Cant remember the last time I reinstalled OSX on my 2015 MBA. Because I never did. Just updating. Whereas my main PC just gets a fresh reinstall of Windows at least once per year.
(haven't watched the video yet, to not wake the wife and don‘t want to get up) I know „uninstalling“ applications leaves huge amounts of crap in the Library folder. AppZapper helped with that. Still its a bad system and doesn't work with all apps.

Weird issue. Maybe there is some other component of the app that runs in the background and starts with the system?

Maybe the issue is not with macOS but with the dropbox app? At least I dont remember ever having an issue like this.
