I'm going all green, or at least having a crack at it. I've just installed a 4 KW solar array on my house which I'm very pleased with as my electric bill has come down a lot since it was installed around a month ago. So, it was time to buy a new tumble drier. I decided on buying the new Samsung DV90N8288AX_GH Heat Pump rated at A+++ for energy efficiency. The thing is I now tend to set the dishwasher and washing machine off during the day when I know I'm generating enough solar power to cover these appliances but sometimes I'm not in. What I want is a gadget like a smart plug / hub thing I can remotely turn on and control things whilst I'm away. We have the Alexa speakers dotted around the house so does Amazon have something you know of that would do the trick if not, anything else ?

Ha ha, not quiet. My other half has really bumped up my energy bills since she moved in with me some three years ago. I'm trying to save a few quid here and there plus I like my gadgets.

Most modern washing machines have timers. Aren't there dishwashers and tumblers with timers?
As for your idea, the simplest thing would be to get some semi-smart power plug adapter, but that won't help you start the machines.

That's what I thought. To get around the issue, actually start the process off and then stop it via the app. Once there's enough energy being generated, then switch it on via the app again.
