Batman: Arkham Legacy is name of new Batman game claim sources
Quote:
Warner Bros. still hasn’t announced a new Batman game but at least we might now know the name and a hint of what it’ll be about.
The lack of any new Batman game since 2015’s Arkham Knight remains one of the most baffling mysteries in gaming this generation, given how quick most publishers are to put out a sequel to a successful game.
Neither Rocksteady, who are believed to be working on some sort of games a service title, or WB Games Montréal, who made 2013’s Arkham Origins, have released a new game all generation and there’s still no official word from either about what they’re working on.
Unfofficially though it seems as if WB Games Montréal’s new game is called Batman: Arkham Legacy and will feature the entire ‘Bat family’ of playable characters.
WB Games Montréal has been rumoured to be involved with several cancelled projects, all or most of which were intended to be Batman titles.
Last year, one of their developers claimed the studio is working on two new DC Comics games, one of which has long been rumoured to be a Batman game involving the Court of Owls storyline – which is what seemed to be being teased last month.
Despite assumptions that those teases would end in an official reveal nothing ever happened, but online leaker Sabi, who proved very reliable around E3, suggests that the new game has the very non-descriptive name of Batman: Arkham Legacy.
Interestingly, comic book movie insider Thomas Polito then replied to the tweet, seeming to imply that the information was true.
The mention of a ‘playable family’ is a reference to the Bat family concept from the comics, which includes all of Batman’s many and varied sidekicks and allies.
Traditionally, that includes multiple Robins (there have been several – many of which went on to create new alter egos, most notably Nightwing and Red Hood), several Batgirls and/or Oracle, and Batwoman.
There are many other more obscure characters the game could chose to include as well, such as more loosely associated (sometime) allies such as Catwoman, Huntress, Azrael, and Creeper.
I hope the changes they make to the established formula are more of "you can play as multiple characters from the Bat family" and less of "we made it into a GaaS".

Arkham Origins wasn't good, though. The story was really bad. Arkham Knight had its fair share of issues with the story (including Knight himself), but overall, it was still a very solid story.
I thought the story in Origins was the best, same for the boss fights. What I didn't like was the copy pasta gameplay and level design, but I doubt they are going to copy pasta from such old games this time.

AA is a classic, AC is overstuffed and I did not liked it. AO I've not played, AK is fantastic if You ignore 90% of side stuff.
I really want to replay AA some day. I booted it up last week... Still looks glorious, especially at 4k now. Can even run newspapers physx now

AA is a classic but it feels a little narrow in its progression and I don't like the backtracking it does. It is a long game and feels limited when you go around the same buildings.
AC is an improvement, it gives you more freedom, more space and has a few more gadgets. The boss battles are also better, isn't the Mr. Freeze battle in this? Technically it is also an improvement.
AO is a bit derivative of AC with worse story. It gets repetitive later on, room full of mobs after room full of mobs ... they even give you some electro-gloves to get rid of them more quickly but I would prefer more meaningful content.
AK: Fuck the tank sections. Fuck the never-ending rain. Fuck this. Fuck off. Runs like shit on PC, too.
"feels a little narrow" - for me that is focus that some of other later open world games lack.

Tank was fine, batmobile driving was insanely fun and destructive. Graphics are amazing, Rain is great, night is great, runs like a dream even at 4k now - maybe You played pre rerelease version? I've played it 1080p60 on gtx 1060 few years ago and it ran great there too.
At least unlock a Dark Knight Tumbler and roam around in it. It has no tank mode and it drives like a batman powerfantasy. Love it.
Still - Simplicity of AA has this special appeal for me

Arkham Knight is the best Batman game ever. Did you play it shortly after release when it had awful performance? And I think they fixed the batmobile steering in later patches too. At least I had no issues with it, tho it was still faster and better to go around on "wings" because of broader are to cover when looking for side stuff. I played and enjoyed almost all races, they were somewhat refreshing in between sneaking or fighting. The world was also good tho it lacked variety but that's because of Gotham, if they change it too much that will surely infuriate the Barman fanboys. Can't really remember most boss fights other than the last one that kept me on the edge and almost drove me crazy. But that was because you had to be very careful what you are doing and shooting. I found it a good idea for such thrilling fight. AK was great overall. Only think I didn't like were the riddler puzzles but even they had good variety. This game is my top 3 open world games and it's how an open world game should be done. Not like the overhyped Witcher 3 where you only walk around following red glowing stuff until you reach some monster. The only variety in that game was that sometimes you can decide to kill or spare the monster.
Sorry... but for me, the absolutely ridiculous Riddler challenges with the batmobile were just awkward and utterly tacked on - like they needed to find a reason to HAVE a Batmobile.
I really liked AC tbh.. maybe I'm just too much a Batman fan to ignore all the side characters... and the pretty good story.

I recently played AK again, as I never completed the story, and had a blast. Made it to 97% completion, fuck the Riddler
Batmobile is great, and the tank combat sections were more fun than I remember. Perhaps they made it easier/less cumbersome?
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

I haven't played it at release but I know they made good changes in the patches. As far as I read there were batmobile tweaks and other shit. I played it 2 years ago and loved the game. Last update on Steam is on 08/03/2016.

Yup, after the meme launch Arkham Knight has become a surprisingly polished game both technically and performance-wise. It doesn't really bring anything revolutionary to the bat-table and the combat is even more automatized than the usual, but as far as console action games go I found it very enjoyable and immersive. I liked the Batmobile sections as well despite the uber-arcade physics, they added more variety to the bat-mix.
It is a blockbuster beast with all that it entails, but with the right balance of visceralcinematicness and proper gameplay, high-quality visuals/art-style and a pretty solid narrative structure. I hope WB can work on that formula and improve it, though I'm not sure they have the talent or intentions to do so. Better to be prepared for the worst, as per usual
If you look at the copyright on the website it is still DC Comics so it looks like those are more badges of the different organizations that will be in the game as it should still be a Batman game.

Interesting, didn't know about the copyright. Here's hoping it's something interesting.
I'm linking to the thread because there's more info than just the article.
Anyway, rumored to be the first game in a new DC continuity. Next game will be Rocksteady's Suicide Squad GaaS set in the same continuity and there are reports of a Superman game also coming, although others say there isn't.
Plot wise it's said to be a reboot, not set in Arkham universe, but gameplay wise the fighting system is said to be Arkham's (presumably evolved).
