wtf? this pic looks like some joke...nvidia goes from showing off chicks scantily clad swimming and hanging off trees to some fat dude scratching himself? where does this fit in with their slick marketing schemes?

anyways im getting tired of card companies outdating their old cards in less than 6 monthes...in this case it was mostly atis fault for flashing their specs before a prototype has even made its way out to review sites, but nvidia follows right along.

it seems like even the card makers are in on the whole 'consoles are better than pcs' argument because they are proving the point that upgrades are expensive and needed every 5 monthes, unlike consoles with a cycle of 5 yrs.

anyways im glad ive resigned myself to buying midrange video cards once every two or three yrs. i feel sorry for someone who just blew 500 bucks on a vid card thats already obsolete Rolling Eyes

So far we have only seen this marketing material shown here, and some charts from nvidia with the specs, and a pc running the newest model from ati. Of course companies claim that their new product is 100% faster, but thats only marketing blah.

Remember nvidia claiming the same thing for their Geforce 3? I made the mistake and bought the card as an early adaptor and was deeply disappointed as it was visually not faster than my Geforce 2 GTS. But i have learned my lesson, i only buy mid-class cards, and not right after launch and i keep those for 2-3 years ( and i will NEVER buy nvidia crap again, but thats another story Wink ). I will keep my X800XL for three years for sure so i really couldnt care less what marketing hoax ati and nvidia are telling me, because these cards dont have any new features at all.

Edit: Here is the pic from the new r520, not that you can actually see much Razz

all this hardware & none of the software to use it on,whats the point then,if i'll ever upgrade again it will be PS3 & not another expensive ass vcard that u can't use properly cause of lame optimization from game & driver makers

I'm not too impressed by the specs for the 7800 GTX model. This won't be the next big performance jump as we experienced it with the previous generation (5950U>6800U). I've heard Nvidia's newest baby will score around 7800 points in 3DMark05 while current X850 XT PEs reach 6300 points at standard core/mem frequencies. Let's see what ATi is able to come up with.
