Kalypso Media Group has announced the founding of a new video game development studio for the sole purpose of developing the next-generation installment of the Commandos strategy series.
The new studio is based in the “Greater Frankfurt area” and has not been named yet. However, the position of Studio Director has been taken by Jürgen Reußwig, “former Studio manager at Sunflowers and Managing Director of Games Distillery.”
The Managing Director of Kalypso Media, Simon Hellwig, had this to say about the new studio’s founding: “The establishment of a new studio is a clear commitment to Kalypso’s growth plans for the coming years as we looked to expand our internal and external development efforts. Commandos is a great, globally-recognized brand and we will do our utmost to meet the expectations of the worldwide gaming community. We can’t wait to get started.”
In addition, Studio Director Jürgen Reußwig added his comments: “At the new site we’ll be looking to develop a truly worthy successor to Commandos, designed for both PC and console platforms for simultaneous worldwide release. On a personal level, I couldn’t be prouder to be working on a true icon of strategy gaming, and I’m looking forward to receiving applications from new and experienced developers alike that share our passion for the series.”
Kalypso Media Group and the unnamed studio have begun recruitment for the subsidiary, and the final name of the company is planned to be revealed soon.
Furthermore, fans of the Commandos series of strategy games can pre-order the PC version of Commandos 2 — HD Remaster with exclusive beta access on the Kalypso Store starting Friday, December 13, 2019.
In addition to the Commandos franchise, Kalypso Media Group is responsible for the popular Sudden Strike series, the fourth and most recent installment of which was released on August 11, 2019 for PC, August 15, 2017 for PlayStation 4, and May 25, 2018 for Xbox One.

you really cant escape these console turds anywhere anymore. Even the most pc ass genres and types of games, they cant just release them as traditional pc games and tap into that dormant market. Everything is "how can we make this genre viable on consoles? We'll just cut a bit here, cut a bit there, remove this and bam - controller oriented game.
I don't mind this. If its bad its whatever. Its not like i put money in the development of the game or lose anything if the game flops
The more of this genre the better
We got shadow tactics ( maybe 2 to come ) , new desperados next year and we need more
AND Commandos 2 HD Remaster in january

Are there any plans to remaster the first Commandos?
It's been years since I played it, but I remember liking the first one over the second (it was a lot more challenging).
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
" Commandos: Origins " is a tactical strategy game that takes place in the first half of World War II and tells the story of a newly founded British commando unit that grows into a brotherhood during its operations against strategic goals of the German Wehrmacht. The player will control different characters with different abilities from an isometric perspective of the playing field and use them strategically in such a way that the given mission goal is achieved. So you will work your way through the various missions based on historical locations and missions to the respective goal.
Kalypso are usually very hit and miss, and unless they hire someone who *truly* understands the challenging and PC-centric essence of the formula, the poor Commando men are inevitably bound to be subjected to another dose of rape.
Hell, they couldn't even handle doing a simple Commandos 2 HD version, an embarrassment that goes beyond the usual remustard since it was actually released in a seriously broken state with a layer of censorship on top of it, missing features and whatnot (never fixed as far as I know).

they should just go ahead with the Desperados 3, Shadow tactics engine and do a commandos episode.
(I dunno which team made those)
Adding some variety like choosing your loadout and commandos for a mission (so each mission can be completed different routes)
Also a xp system could work as well maybe?
Hopefully this one doesn't comes that much buggy...

At least this is done by a different dev, can't be much worse than the rebutchered editions. I don't have a lot of hopes for this, graphically looks really bad, hopefully the gameplay is decent, but not much is shown yet.
Still remember what a puzzle game the first one was. "Oh, you used one of the four bullets for the sniper we gave you too early? WELL FUCK YOU, you needed that near the end of the level".
In the second one you could cut loose sometimes.

"We decided to remove the Nazi flags from a game about killing Nazis, so what? Also enjoy new bugs."
The only studio I would trust with new Commandos would be Mimimi, shame they're going to close soon.
looks like the nazi flags are depicted as iron crosses? how lame.
i commented on the video very simply that this is historical revisionism. youtube AI bots directly deletes the message, so even saying something is historical revisionism is not allwowed on youtube, obviously because they are aware that it is going on and they're on the revisonists side.
Well, it's German law isn't it? They've censored/banned the use of nazi symbolism in games since 1993, Wolfenstein 3D being the first game it happened in. Of course, that's only for games sold in Germany.

its a video of a game though, so if there's a german version i think it's dumb to show that version of the game. wouldn't surprise me if they've done it to all versions.

no buy from me.
Some Dev in the steam forums said the nazi flags can be enabled in the gameplay options.
