Downsampling makes them look better? You put 4 pixels into 1 = = detail loss = quality loss

Less jaggies hardly means better quality, much like AA doesn't automatically make better (i.e. BlurAA). Downsampling makes for soft images due to interpolation used.

Did you use nearest-neighbor resize? Otherwise, interpolation makes images softer in any case. |

I used Lanczos.
Downsampling can lead to a better image. 2880p vs 720p

In this case the original looks blurry and unacceptable. The 720p one definitely looks better and "sharper". So it depends on the amount of detail the original image has among other things.
In any case the better AA alone is worth it.
On the other hand uploading to imgur only hurts the images, there's no advantage.. Not even a small one.
Anyway, please don't kill the thread.

Ok, two questions for the people who knows their stuff:
1. Best method for taking the screenshot on my computer?
2. Best site for uploading the screenshot?
Both questions in terms of preserving the max possible quality.

Fraps is free and can take PNG/BMP images (which are uncompressed).
Do not capture jpegs with it, instead use another app to convert them to jpeg (eg irfanview which is free, or ACDSee, Photoshop..). When you are to convert them to jpeg, use 90+ % quality. 100% is overkill, so don't do that lol. 90% is fine, but I use 95%.
Finally upload them to abload.de or picpar.com which are two sites that don't recompress what you upload to them. Keep in mind abload has banned this forum so we won't be able to see your images lol.
(BTW, the screenshots you capture and upload with Steam don't work here, but I don't know if it's Valve that has banned this place (why?) or some incompatibility with this forum? In any case they look a little compressed so you shouldn't use it anyway).

In case you use Firefox... picpar doesn't work in Firefox for me. I don't know why. So I use IE for it.
