After Deadline this week revealed that Quentin Tarantino pitched a Star Trek film to JJ Abrams and Paramount, the whole thing is moving at warp speed. Tarantino met for hours in a writers room with Mark L. Smith, Lindsey Beer, and Drew Pearce. They kicked around ideas and one of them will get the job. I’m hearing the frontrunner is Smith, who wrote The Revenant. The film will most certainly go where no Star Trek has gone before: Tarantino has required it to be R rated, and Paramount and Abrams agreed to that condition.
...
That rating was crucially important to Tarantino, who hopes to direct this Star Trek and who has helmed R rated films his entire career.

honestly i fucking hate tarantino. i used to like him, i like his older stuff, but not any more.. i think his themes and the way he writes characters and dialog are ALL wrong for a star trek movie. my interst in this film is lower than the new star wars movie.
honestly, why couldnt he go fuck up star wars and leave star trek alone.. the new star trek films, i thought, were actually pretty enjoyable. go mess with star wars, we all know theres no happy ending there.

If there won't be an hour long scene where Federetion and Klingons are sitting in a desolated bridge of some ship, just talking shit and mandatory dialogue about some red shirt sucking Klingonn cock I'm not watching it.

+1
If he directs it I might finally watch anything Star Trek related
"But one of my dreams is to work with Tarantino. I admire his work so much, and to be in a Tarantino film would give me so much satisfaction. So, if he is going to direct something to do with Star Trek and there was the possibility of dear old Jean-Luc showing up again and doing that for Mr Tarantino, I would embrace it."

Beauty is if Tarantino uses the n word... lol
There's no racism in Star Trek... no hate crimes
Humanity works together in Star Trek universe
This could be interesting to see
High chances of it sucking
Tarantino has not yet proven to do a movie that looks anywhere near sci-fi
But then again james gunn has never showed he could do something like guardians
“I’ve met with S.J. [Clarkson] and she’s fizzing with ideas and she has the right attitude. She’s reverent but she’s not slavish. In terms of the story, I have a vague knowledge but it’s nothing I can talk about... Quentin’s idea is another thing. He came in to Bad Robot and pitched it and it’s been put in the bank. I think he had us in mind when he came up with the idea; he likes the new cast. But he’s going to be so busy with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that I can’t see him doing it for five or six years, by which time we might be too old anyway.”

I feel like I have to ask this even though I don’t know if you’ll want to answer. But are you going to make a Star Trek movie? Is there any truth to that?
It’s a very big possibility. I haven’t been dealing with those guys for a while cause I’ve been making my movie. But we’ve talked about a story and a script. The script has been written and when I emerge my head like Punxsutawney Phil, post-Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, we’ll pick up talking about it again.

i want it, the old star trek is all about dialogue and characters on a bridge , star trek needs a dark new restart with miniskirts and lots of bloody red wedding style deaths!

What the fuck? I want Star Trek! If you want something different, please go ahead and name it dark spaceventures or whatever.
Anyhow, I like Tarantinos movies, so I look forward to whatever he produces. It might be called Star Trek, but we'll see if it IS Star Trek
This will be as much Star Trek as the modern movies were Star Trek. Unless you ask Tarantino to completely change his style of course, but asking Tarantino and doing that will be idiotic.
Modern Star Trek is an action/adventure Sci-Fi franchise that has to appeal to the masses to sell.
Nostalgic fanboys get appeased with a few cameos and decor but they are not enough consumers to sell such an investment.
The franchise could still tell great stories but this is not the time for great stories. People want jokes, pew pew and edgy characters that reference the modern society they idealize. They want shocking turn of events and half baked love stories. Cool gadgets and convoluted plots that only make sense because feelings. The really intelligent Trek (and lets not kid ourselves, even all the old series (yes they are ALL old) have many mediocre and even bad episodes and plots), cannot bring in the moneys.
Let Tarantino make what he wants. It cant get any worse after JJ Abrams raped one of the best villains in Trek and and that asshole Kurtzman shat all over TOS. It cant get worse. (It can)
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
