We know the posts is unfit to read but we sit posting our distaste of games while some local mod tells us that today we had Leo banned, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. I know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so I don't go out anymore. I sit in the house, and slowly the world I live in is getting smaller, and all I say is, 'Please, at least leave me alone in the PC section. Let me have my derp emoticons and my facepalms and my dupleos and I won't say anything. Just leave me alone.' Well, they didn't leave me alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your fellow mod or admin because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write ("Don't ban Leo!"). I don't know what to do about the depression I am in and the inflation of derps and the console sections and the crime in the gaming section. All I know is that first you've got to get mad. Regarding persons above the age of 15/16, it really concerns only the sexual maturity of the specific individual, many persons have a frequent sexual life after that age, others only in their 20's or even later.
The law that states a person can only be sexually independent and mature after the age of 18 is ridiculous, it is a cultural legislature based on societal values that have no foundation or empiric evidence in the natural world.
Biologically and physiologically speaking, girls are women after the age of 13/14 and boys become men at 14/15, you cannot establish a uniform number based on cultural opinion for maturity when you certainly are aware that maturity is entirely dependent on individual personality, there are persons at the age of 15 more mature than many with 25.

I found that "they" say about 70% of humanity believes in "a" god, but in this type of threads, in this forum and so many others, you find out quite the opposite, you find that in a universe of 40 people participating in a thread like this, there will only be a handful of nut jobs who actually believe on god, the other are either Atheists like me and you, or don't have an opinion about god's existence, meaning agnostic.
which brings me to the conclusion that, most of the people who believe in god, just say they do, to fit in, because they are afraid to "come out of the closet", because they don't have a problem against authority and want to respect the established institutions of society, but here, online, they feel anonymous, nobody knows who they are, they don't need to "fear" any consequences of saying what they really think.
I honestly have come to understand that the real believers are a minority, most people who claim they believe in god, just do it because they (like you said) believe that makes them appear good and wise, they don't even begin to consider that it only makes them look stupid, ridiculous and in acceptance of every knowledge passed on from father to son a 100 generations over.
To answer the OP question, yes, a scientist can believe in god, because he is as human as the next person, has the same faults, the same weaknesses, the same desires, suffers from the same emotional breakdowns and so forth, everyone can believe in god, that is why it is such a strong thing in society today, that is why hundreds of people are dying daily due to political, economical and cultural decisions, because anyone can believe in god, just as everyone can believe that someday they will find the love of their life, or someday they will be happy or become rich or whatever, but most of them never will, just because you hope for something doesn't mean it will ever happen, if you try to actively pursuit something, you may actually achieve it, but hope is pointless and weak.
And hope is the foundation of faith and religion, that is why it has the personal and social impact it has, because religion plays with our most sensible human weakness and turns it profit and control.
god doesn't exist, there is nothing to support the point of this discussion, nothing more than some texts that were a million times altered throughout history and were written by some people who had very different views on politics and interaction towards others, the different religions are nothing more than different old cultures in constant fight with each other, that is why every god is the one and true god and if you worship another god you will be condemned, because if you worshiped another god is the modern equivalent to treason to your country, if you worshiped another god you were turning into another culture, (one that your native culture didn't like that much)
I beg of everyone of you who believe in god, whatever it may be, to pray, as hard as you can, for every conceivable torment and tragedy would happen to me, that's how much I know your god doesn't exist and, to me, it is just asking for you to write a letter to santa claus to bring me a brand new car.
btw, I always use god, with a small (g) because it really doesn't deserve neither the respect or the work for me to press shift-g, god is nothing, nothing more than a goblin or a tooth fairy, and you don't use capital letter to refer to that ones, so why use it for god if it's equally as ridiculous, well, not equally, because as far as I know, nobody was tortured, in suffering, in fear, and dying in name of goblins and the tooth fairy, so god deserves even less respect than those beings of fantasy that I referred.
