Amiga lovers should be happy with that reedition of classic Eric Chahi's Another World (Out of this World) with new high res backgrounds and vector animations. Very Happy

at its time that game was a shock with its smooth vector animations, its immersive mute story and its strong visuals of an alien world. BUT if you've never played it BE AWARE that the gameplay is oldschooly HARD! you gonna learn all the numerous ways to die in Another World Laughing

to better situate Another World man can say that Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey is kinda its spiritual son. Smile

Yeah, Flashback is my favourite game, probably the best game I ever got my hands on. I'm still playing it from time to time, after all these years.

But it wasn't in any way a sequel to Another World. At best, Another World just served as an inspiration for some ideas used in Flashback. Just check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flashback:_The_Quest_for_Identity.

If any of you guys want to play Flashback again and I'm talking about having a full experience on "there-is-no-support-for-old-DOS" Windows XP just go there: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net. With this little piece of software you'll be able to get results like this:

Flashback was insane. I loved both these titles to death.

However I know I got stuck at one point where there is a big hole on the Alien planet.and you'd make a path down, then left then up and someone would follow you and help you or something like that... but I didn't get any further.

It's great I have very, very vague recollections the game was just so immersive - I really felt like I was conrad when playing it.

Is there any quick and easy way of getting the game?

What were the devs thinking.. They should have made it Pay2Win with micro-transactions to unlock automatic platforming and shooting. Then IGN would have loved it.

Spoony and NC are two different guys.

Spoony is a has-been who once made somewhat funny game reviews, but now he spends his days making vlogs about movies, hating on everything, trying desperately to stay relevant. Laughing

NC is also a has-been who used to make pretty funny reviews of nostalgic tv shows and movies, but now he spends his days making a slightly higher budget, more pretentious version of his old shtick, using two fresh-out-of-acting-school actors who can't actually act if their life depended on it, interrupting the actual reviews with self-indulgent skits where they try to be funny. And looking at his site, he seem to have abandoned the "nostalgia" part, since he just reviewed After Earth. Ah, those fond childhood memories. Like they were yesterday. Reaction

I'm a huge retro gamer but the reviewer HAS a point even though he's being a cunt about it.

Basically, Another World is a "trial and error" game where you die over and over until you figure out what you have to do. It's unforgiving and its controls ARE pretty stiff and shit - the game won't respond immediately bit you have to wait for the correct break in the animation. Even back in 1994 when Another World (or Out of THis World as the US version was called) was re-released as a budget game, the game got pretty poor reviews for exactly these reasons - scores like 65-70% - so why should we rate it any higher 20 years later?

At the time it was popular because it looked amazing and had great atmosphere but the controls and trial & error gameplay DO make the game frustrating to play.
