Chatting with The Guardian, Fincher revealed that he will be behind the camera for every episode of HBO's remake of the U.K. series "Utopia." The project, which has been brewing for a while, was given a series order by the network earlier this year, with "Gone Girl" author Gillian Flynn also on board to produce. The show (which has two seasons overseas) follows a group of people who get their hands on a cult graphic novel called "The Utopia Experiments," which seems to have predicted no shortage of disasters. An organization known only as The Network hunts them down as the group tries to prevent the next disaster predicted in the pages of the manuscript from happening.
Season 1 of the UK Series was ok, I haven't watched the second yet. Hopefully Fincher will make it even better.

I'll have to note when I say "it was ok" the high points were the cinematography and perhaps the unconventional characters. The plot was.. not so good. Undercooked conspiracy theories (nothing extraordinary) with the occasional twist.

I usually find it a bit of a waste to remake everything into an Americanized version but Fincher makes quality stuff. That and a bigger budget than the original could make this a decent remake. We shall see.

I hear HBO brass continue to be high on the project and may try continuing it with a new director. While the pay cable network also is said to be high on the cast, the actors have been released so a potential new director could make their decisions but the current cast members will likely be choices if available.

hmm, i liked the UK´s utopia, but like sayd here, the second season was kinda a mess, didnt like it, but i watched non the less.. Good shoow, with a nice idea behind it, but the second didnt deliver
and i dont think the new one is gonna be better.. dunno, i wonder when they start remaking Dr. Who.... lol

Cusack will play Christie, a charismatic, media-savvy and brilliant biotech mind who wants to change the world through science. He is the latest addition to the cast, after Rainn Wilson joined the project to play Michael Stearns and Sasha Lane is set to portray Jessica Hyde.

Utopia follows a group of young adults who meet online that are mercilessly hunted by a shadowy deep state organization after they come into possession of a near-mythical cult underground graphic novel. Within the comic’s pages, they discover the conspiracy theories that may actually be real and are forced into the dangerous, unique and ironic position of saving the world.
Rothe will play Samantha. Extremely idealistic, sharp-witted and a natural-born leader, Samantha earnestly believes in changing the world through action and scoffs at cheap rhetoric about progress.
