The car has a red airbag light that started turning on randomly. The mechanic said the airbags are too pressurised, that they need adjustments and that the car shouldn't be used as they may not function correctly.

It's covered under warranty and will be fixed on the 12th of next month. When we asked what were supposed to drive until then, the lady on the phone suggested we keep driving it as it's not likely that we will have a crash.

Does anyone know the formula for working out when you're going to crash your car? She wouldn't share her secret. This is all new to me and I'd love to plan ahead if possible.

Thanks

Over here you'd just get a loaner car in the meanwhile... what kind of shit service they have, though not surprising when a dumb cow like that works there. Razz

Why doesn't the dealer provide you with a spare car for the month? Do they intend to sell their whole stock until next month???! Demand a car dude! When some asshole scratched my car I got a fully equipped equivalent for a whole week...

I personally think that crashing is not the worst case scenario here. The worst thing that could happen is if the airbag deployed mid-drive by itself (I hope your car doesn't have Takata airbags).

Warranty should pay for replacement car in this case. I doubt the car would pass vehicle inspection under these circumstances so it may very well be illegal to drive it now.

Ask your insurance too. I don't think they will cover for anything if the airbag failed to work in a crash, if you knew it was failing.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Dangerous, demand a replacement. Are we talking about cheap or medium/high range vehicle/dealer? As couleur mentioned, think about your health insurance. If anything happens, you might be fucked.
