It's been years since a decent one was out. The market is flooded by flight sims, the list is almost endless.
The last great tank sim has to have been Team Yankee. It's a great book too.

That brings back memories from the good old Amiga
I guess the closest to a tank sim we are getting anytime soon would be the upcoming Battlefield 2

yea right Jenni, the last one i remember playing and enyoing was M1 Tank Platoon from Microprose on my Amiga 500. I played one on PC some time ago, i think the name was Panzer Elite, but that wasnt too much fun, i was missing some heavy German tanks from WWII and the whole game was not the same like M1

i agree. actually for the most part simulation as a whole is dead and buried. imo, in no small part due to the 'shoot 'em up' quick n easy type gameplay that consoles have tried to play off as 'simulation games.' anyways panzer commander by SSI was the only decent tank simulation game i can recall playing. recently only the combat mission series and, to an even lesser (arcadish) extent s:howw2 gave the rush of tank combat. its too bad. nothing quite beats the exhileration of having an enemy tank in your sights while waiting for the next shell to be loaded.

T-72 is the best SIMULATOR nowadays. It's based on a russian military training software. They just added good gfx, a user-friendly interface and ctreated campaigns instead of skirmish missions.
It's not an arcade, it's a real simulator - u get to fiddle with the targeting computers a lot, calculate the wind etc.

I kinda liked Armoured Fist. It would be nice indeed to have a new simulator out.
I guess I'll just have to drive my tanks in Battlefield 2

Why do they make a sim about the T-72 and not about the T-90? T-72 is outdated now.

T-72 isn't THAT outdated. still widely used. T-90 turned from prototype to serial production recently so it ain't got any real historical backgrnd (to base a game on) whilst T-72 does

hehehehe, its still a simulation albeit a very basic one. It drives, it shoots, it explodes when heavily shot at
And it disappears too fast because of tank-camper whores who cant drive
