|
 |
So my PC crashes quite often when I freshly start it. After one restart it doesn't crash, nor does it crash when I'm playing or if it didn't crash within the first 2 minutes of the PC running.
I suspect that it's because of my non-pwm rgb fans that I've attached to the board and control via voltage regulation of my board. It's all quite hacky and whatnot and I assume that when the computer is too cold, the fans spin too little and the current goes up as the voltage stays low.
But anyhow, to be sure that it's not the memory (but if it is the memory why would it crash afterwards?!), which tool do you suggest to test it? Thx.

spend the $20-30 on real fans ?? |
Those fans came with the case, are ARGB and do their job well... enough that I don't want to spend money on new ones Also they are hooked up to the proprietary ARGB controller and I don't want to fiddle with that shit either.

Sorry I didn't answer your question either, it doesn't sound like a RAM issue to me but you can test it with memtest86+ (sometimes included and can be launched from BIOS, otherwise flash to USB). I would double check how you are powering those RGB fans etc, as the 4pin RGB headers are not the same as stock motherboard fan header. Maybe try run it w/o these fans to rule it out?

Presuming your not overclocking, maybe update BIOS and reset as well as @paxsali suggest.

Wait, there is something that doesn't take 24 hours AND is reliable?!

Wow, I didn't even think about disabling the fans Will give that a try, afterwards a bios reset. Btw I'm not on an overclock but my 3800x is on a 0.1v undervolt.

Thats what I would do too.
Disable all hardware including fans you dont 'need' even extra HD's and such. Just the bare bone parts needed to run and try. Then add in one at a time until it crashes, if it does.
If it something you add that crashes uses a cable, dont assume the part is it, try a new cable on it and see if it still does first.
Then you can narrow it down to that part, or PSU if its a matter of it powering off due to fault after certain load level.
