So, here we go again, and almost a year to the day I bought the G513 keyboard, which was a replacement for the G513 I bought a year before this one.

Usual Logitech utter fuckin shit switches nonsense, double typing galore, starting off slow, but progressively getting to the point of me wanting to ram the fucker up any cunts arse. GX Browns, which were an upgrade from my previous version, but no longevity as per usual. I'd reckon if I were a proper typist, then 7 months could be easily shaved off that period.

My 3rd G502 has now started the same shit also, although only 9 months on this one, but I'm fine with that, as I expected it to happen (well I've had 3), and have the required superior switches to replace them with. Same happened with both my G900 & G903, a year at most, then LogiFuck crap.

I'm done with Logitech finally, so much waste, same problems each and every time, the forums are flooded with thousands of the same issues, with both products, and others in their range. I'm beginning to think its deliberate, to make you buy another or their latest?

Fuckin asswipes!

Congratulations Logitech, you now move to No. 2 on my most hated list, just below MS, and just above EA!

/rant over

I'm on my second HyperX Alloy keyboard and some keys are starting to act up.. again... - not a double type problem this time around, but some keys require multiple presses to work, pretty randomly too.

Seems like mechanical keyboards just have no longevity or something.. suggestions, anyone ? Very Happy

G513 uses the shit logitech Romer G switches, new models uses different design and are far more durable. However i will not touch logitech products anymore, their G pro software is absolutely shit bloatware.

Why is this company still in business? Now even keyboards doubleclick? I have RMA'd my G502 lightspeed 3 times already. Surely people aren't so stupid as to buy these expensive products and just let Logitech be by buying something else when they start having issues?

Something tells me you should not buy Logitech. Wink

I'm perfectly happy with my Roccat keyboard with their own developed mechanical keys. They've got a bunch of different models. I've only had it for a month or so so I can't say anything about the longevity of those switches but they're specced for 50 million clicks which is the same as the most durable Cherry MX switches while it's been designed to fix the debounce issue that those switches have (ie. causing double clicks etc.)

https://en.roccat.org/Labs/Titan-Switch

Quote:
DEBOUNCED MECHANICS
Contact bouncing is a common problem with mechanical switches. With each key stroke, the switch tends to bounce or chatter on the electrical contact, cycling rapidly between being on and off. This can result in a single key stroke being recognized as multiple, or even not being recognized at all. Keyboard firmware is typically designed to account for this and features a delay in reading the signal until it settles.

Both the Titan Switch Tactile and the Titan Switch Linear tackle this problem by utilizing high quality mechanical components that bring the physical bounce of the switch to an absolute minimum. This allowed for a complete re-programming of the firmware to take advantage of the reduced bounce. It reliably reads the key stroke signal at a much earlier point after actuation, making the Titan switch 20% faster than its competitors – and a whopping 30% faster in the case of the Linear switch.

Logitech charges premium for no QA. I don't think they even heard of that. Such a shame Mad

But Logitech has the only mouse that I do not get sore arms from (Master 2S). Master 3 sucks ass, but Master 2S is great (if it works). Already on my 2nd because the first one also broke Laughing Luckily the company I bought it from sent a new one (and extended warranty, which will surely be needed).

Every Logitech product dies after 1-2 years, if you're lucky. I previously owned a G700 (later G700s) which sometimes didn't even make 2 months before breaking down. I had received at least 6-7 G700(s) replacements in total (lost count). Surely some QA and better componenets would've costed them considerably less.

Thanks for the suggestions, Ducky's seem pretty complicated to get in France for a non blatantly inflated price, but Roccat's seem to be in a more reasonable price range !

Edit : Reading reviews for both brands and a variety of their respective models, seems like both still have durability issues with a number of users complaining about double taps, ghosting, keys not working altogether.. it does seem like it's a systemic issue for all sorts and qualities of mechanical keyboards.

I'll try going for a Ducky, since they're regarded as durable - a lot of them don't have numpad, which bothers me, and it that fails me too I'll just revert to a cheap membrane keyboard, not gonna spend +100€ every couple years forever Laughing

I had my G700s for many years before it started spasming. Buttons were fine, but i guess the sensor had enough and wanted to retire

I think any old school logitech item is built like a tank. Anything 'newish' is all flash no substance. Good for a while, then something minor starts screwing up.

The few MX518 I have from 10+ years ago still work like a champ. My kids both use them and they are ooold as hell.
An old Logitech keyboard I have hooked to my VMware server is at least 15+ years old and still works and feels great.
Right now I have a reddragon keyboard and for the price I cannot praise it enough. All metal shell, compact size that is still a 'full' sized layout. And replaceable keys AND switches that just unplug and swap out, I want to change them to all blue or red switches? Just swap them. RGB for my tastes (I Don't need flashy reactive ones. it has some option, but pure white RGB keys for low light typing is what I like).

I'm still using my Logitech G9x. The only thing I've had to do was to replace the button switches. I've had it for a decade in other words.

its one of these, and they are dirt cheap for how useful they are if you want one (Not this exact one but same thing):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q2TTQEE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_JwELAb9CQTWMW

The old clamp/mag glass ones are good too for wiring and such:

Edit:
The 'similar to' amazon recommendation I think is that exact one:
