Yeah, I've always had strong reasons to use other players, so as a player I dont take it seriously. Its great to recommend to normal people though.

Never used or needed to install VLC, I've always thought of it as derp player for those that have "codec problems" which I've never encountered.

VLC for the phone (Unless there's a better alt) but MPC-HC for the PC. Main reason: Faster but also "Frame by frame BACKWARDS"

I tried VLC on W10 (laptop from my work), it indeed runs like shit on windows, what a difference compared with how smoothly it runs on Linux....

Even on Linux, mpv is much superior.

mpv uses ffmpeg, and on Windows there are far superior alternatives also based on ffmpeg, let alone better decoders/splitters, such as LAVFilters. mpv is the Linux of media players, and VLC is the Java of the media players. Far better alternatives exist for each category.

it locks up for him in Linux somehow so he stopped using it
