That sounds ok to me. It seems to be a pre-alpha/alpha build so nothing is set in stone. In previous alphas and betas some major changes took place which changed a lot of the early look and feel. We'll see what they'll come up with and if they've learned their lesson with Windows Vista and 8/8.1 now that they realised that touch screens never became a thing on laptops and desktops.

I actually like the Start Menu change, but I'd like to see major changes in the rest of the UI as well, especially the legacy parts. So far it's only some rounded corners. Hopefully they show more stuff on the 24th. As long as the widget-ization and pear-y stuff for tablets are optional and the experience can be customized to look/feel like the usual proper-ish desktop Windows, I'm fine with it. Windows 10 was/is alright in my book (after some tweaking in order to get the most out of it), also in terms of how it improved the compatibility with golden oldies and gaming-related environment in general. Don't really care for their Store, Gamepass App or whatever escamotage they're doing to merge the PC world and console one as I'm never going to use those. They did say that but now are backtracking as they announced 2025 is when they will stop supporting it. Hopefully it will be a free upgrade for Windows 10 like they did from Win 7/8 to 10.

Lookin like the same old bloat fest with a new skin. Same settings options on install etc, so most likely riddled with the same old shit. I had high hopes for a slimmer 'base OS', but this just seems a regurgitated Win10 & WinX mish-mash, with all the behind the scenes crap, still bogging the OS down. It's like they have ran out of ideas, and like most games these days, decided to throw out a 'remaster'. Shame.

E: running mostly fine there. Only it couldn't install some language features. It still reports as Windows 10. If they improve the readability of the active taskbar programs a bit then it's OK and not that different from W10.

multicore optimizations are actually quite nice with win11. OS actually now throws shit at different cores/threads to run. My hash mining increased by about 3-5%. Virtual desktops are very nice. My specs: Ryzen 5950x @ boosting 5ghz, Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master, 32gb G.Skill Trident Neo pc3600 ram, nVidia RTX 5080, SoundBlasterX G6, Samsung 980 Pro m.2 1TB and Hynix m.2 1TB storage SSD. Custom watercooling loop. Derpsole: Nintendo Switch, Derpstation 5 Pro
