Scored a G923 complete set for pretty damn cheap. Looking for some recommendations.

So far I got Horizon 5 which is pretty good, kinda lousy wheel support tho, game kinda punishes you for having one and from what i've read online the devs don't seem to give a flying fuck.

Snowrunner has been an absolute blast with it so far. Some better support could be given for certain things but overall it's a lot of fun.

Not sure I'm really into hardcore racing sims like F1 and what not, only ever really liked Arcade kinda racers.

Looked at the Dirt games but I've legit always been bad at drifting in any game lol.

Wreckfest is a BLAST! Its the only game I would recommend to anyone with a wheel regardless if they are after sim or arcade..its just a lot of fun, 10x more with friends.

Andd Snowrunner is the only recommendation I can give if you are not into sim games but you did that already. As I am the opposite only racing game I played that wasnt sim, is the one you already did (5 horizons)

If you decide to try sim: Project Cars 2, Race Room and RFactor both (both old but feel, feedback, and realistic physics are awesome in both), or Assetto Corsa.
Or iRacing. But that's probably waaay to far into 'sim' world than you would ever want. Its sub based, with scheduled races every 1/2 hour or so with other real players (no AI in it at all).

I have wreckfest but it works like absolute ass with a wheel. No matter what settings I use it just works like shit. Seen the same complaints online that the inclusion of wheel support was more of an afterthought. I play the fuck out of it on gamepad tho lol

Weird. I got G27 (son has g29) and it works great for us on it.
It is harder than keyboard/controller for both of us, but mostly because the keyboard/controller doesn't slam you around with force feedback when trying to race and getting rammed all over the place, and not from bad wheel integration.
My friend avi has a $1000 direct drive something or other and he has fun in it..but it WILL rip the wheel out of his hands violently if I or someone rams the shit out of him. But works for him OK too.

Maybe it varies on brand/model/line of wheel on how well it works?

Id offer Project cars 3 as an acade option. But I cannot bring myself to recommend that game out of personal bitterness of how they royally screwed the project cars line with it.
I got like 600+ hours in project cars 2, was gifted PC3, steam says I have 0.3 hours in it Razz (I didnt even finish the first race before closing it).

If you can find it cheap, try it. you might like it.

G920 works great for me in Wreckfest. In forza horizon 4&5 it's pretty bad - good only for some driving around the map but when it comes to racing gamepad is a much better choice. Crying or Very sad
I recommend Euro Truck Sim 2 Cool Face

@paxsali
To be truthful me and my friend avi (the one I mentioned above) decided once to try to play Street Fighter V by remapping all the wheel/pedal/shifter controls to the game.

We wasnt GOOD at it by any means, but it was fun absurdity to play.

I bought Forza Horizon 5 and Grid Legends recently but they were a waste of money.
Only really playing Assetto Corsa Competizione atm, everything else either have bad graphics or are too arcadey for me.
Maybe you will like Grid Legends, you can play 10 hours with ea play @ 5 euros.

Dirt Rally 2
If you try to “drift” (like Ken Block), you are doing it wrong.

Dirt Rally 2 indeed.

You could also try some realistic sims like assetto corsa competizione or rFactor 2
You don't have to be a serious sim racer to enjoy these games. They have the best force feedback and are just fun to drive with a decent wheel.

I can attest to FH5 and Grid Legends being a waste of money. I stopped playing FH5 months ago and installed FH4 again for my arcade-racing needs. The only GRID I liked was the first. They got worse with each "sequel".

I haven't had a wheel/pedal setup for my PC since... forever. I sold my logitech *somethingblablaforcefeedback* stuff just months after I bought it. It was just too cumbersome to dismount and remount everytime I wanted to race for 30 minutes or so.

I bought a wheel but since I drive a car I found it to be shit in almost every arcade game like Forza, nfs. Only Project Cars had some realistic driving.

I changed the name of the thread title so this will now be the simulation thread. Hades is on the screen cause Im using steam link out in my livingroom ATM but this is my simple little guy.

The mount frame is a Next Level Racing 2.0
https://nextlevelracing.com/products/racing-wheel-stand-2-0/

Not bad for the price considering how robust it is. It can fold up and be put away which is nice.

Also yes, I know it's time for a new mousepad, I just washed this and made it worse lol. Or it's cum, ill never tell.

Congrats! Looking good Very Happy
My ancient glorious Driving Force GT died a couple of years back and I've been 100% stuck with the peasant pad ever since, but I'll definitely build myself something again in the near-ish future. VR is another big incentive that goes along perfectly with the genre since many titles fully support it, even the older ones. Driving sims have always been one of my fetishes, so many hours were spent on them over the years and there are no signs of fatigue yet. I eventually managed to fully master the chopsticks as well Laughing

The more arcade-oriented/relaxing games that offer competent physics are a rare breed, though the ones that have already been mentioned are very much decent. Snowrunner, ETS2, Wreckfest, but also the BeamNG.drive sandbox can offer lots of satisfying moments. If you start adding mods such as the real roads-inspired ones alongside the CSP shaders even Assetto Corsa can be included here as well (it's a timeless game thanks to the community).

If you want some proper adrenaline and challenge you can't go wrong with the many sims available these days, there is ample choice (and most of them are actually very scalable in terms of driving helps Razz). Project Cars 2 is probably the most suitable sim for newcomers, rewarding but not too hardcore, it also has a good career mode which is a plus. Automobilista 2 is the evolution of it physics-wise, but it's still unfinished in terms of features and contents. The F1 series has improved over the years to the point that it belongs here as well (though the last one that I tried was the D-free 2020 version). Then the usual Assetto Corsa Competizione for GT3/GT4 cars and Dirt Rally 2 - followed by the Earlyaccessforever rFactor 2 and Raceroom (both solid but plagued by technical limitations and predatory DLCs).
Don't write off the classics though, games like GTR2, rFactor/Automobilista 1 and Richard Burns Rally are still great to play and are supported by the community. Also the good ol' Nascar Racing 2003, surprisingly engaging despite the silly discipline Cool Face

I think we just awoken something in Ixi 😆

I guess I'll have to yar some of the more realistic sims and see if they're my thing. Really just like more of the sandbox/arcade style racing. I'd suck a fat fucking dick to get a complete proper remake of Need for Speed High Stakes, god I fucking love that game.

I'll try to remember to try that project cars 2, though why the fuck is a 5 year old game still 60 dollars....

Forza Horizon is a shit choice for a wheel drive. While it works, that game is way too arcadey. Few games that I've had great success with my wheel is Forza 7, Dirt Rally 2.0, Project Cars series. However, I've been mainly using it now on my PS5 with GT7 and F1 series.

My specs:
Ryzen 5950x @ boosting 5ghz, Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master, 32gb G.Skill Trident Neo pc3600 ram, nVidia RTX 5080, SoundBlasterX G6, Samsung 980 Pro m.2 1TB and Hynix m.2 1TB storage SSD. Custom watercooling loop.

Not much to add, but Assetto Corza Competizione / Dirt Rally 2 are where it's at for driving with a wheel (esp the former).
Project Cars 2 is probably what you're looking for though Smile

Thinking on it, if you want to dip your toe into sim. Project cars 2 is probably the best bet by far like others said.

Its pricey still, but the most 'forgiving' adjustable. You can disable a good bit of sim stuff if you like. Dont even need to pit or care about tires if you realllly wanted to change those settings in it.
And has the most tracks & cars standard that comes with it (it has a LOT). RFactor for example can have as many, but you got to fuss with learning to install mods, and set them up, and find them online make sure you and the other people have the same version mods..etc.

Project cars 2 is the best 'all in one' install -> start playing with a lot of tracks/cars starting place like others said.

Hardest mode (to me) is iRacing. Only get it if you realllly like sim racing. I love it, but its an acquired taste for sure.
It's not so much hardest SIM part, but in rules and rigidity of following them. Since its fixed and cannot change any realism settings. And you always race against other people and clean racing/good car setup is uber important past C license...and will fuck you HARD if you don't.
And expensive...Ive probably spent $600 in iRacing over the last 5-6 years.

Wouldn't VR be much more feasible and immersive than having that huge ass wide monitor? I remember playing PCars 2 with my Oculus and I had a fucking blast. My GTX 970 wasn't really capable enough though... Newer VR Headsets with higher resolutions should be perfect for sim racers Smile The level of immersion is incredible, especially in racing games, as you usually do not leave your seat, neither in real life, nor in game Smile
