Kingpin: Reloaded is described as a remastered, enhanced version of the original, co-published by 3D Realms and Interplay, and due out on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC later in 2020. Here's the official blurb:
"In a stylised noir art deco gangland that never was, the Kingpin rules above all else with a bloody fist. When his lieutenant Nikki Blanco leaves a no-name Thug battered and broken, the upstart criminal rises from a puddle of blood, lead pipe in hand and revenge in mind."

Not interested in this ancient Q2-engine game. It was a curiosity at the time due to the violence portrayed. Doesn't make it more fun to play today just because they increase the resolution. IMHO
Time flies, i was 20 when i first play this, i could not stop playing this game, it was hard as hell.
Haha yeah, it really was one hell of a tough beast. I replayed it in 2018 with some community fixes and naively thought I could handle the highest difficulty..nope. I actually had to finish it on medium which roughly matches the ultra-nighmare difficulty in modern games.
The new "Enhanced" mode looks quite cheap to be honest (too vibrant and bloom-ridden, hopefully optional), but the game itself is solid and has a distinct raw suburban style with Tourette's dialogues that sets it apart from other classic shooters.
"Everyone has this problem, its due to the MD2 model format used in Quake2 and most of the engines based on it. It uses a single byte to store vertex coordinates fo the models which doesn't have enough resolution to represent the exact pose, and animation is done via interpolating multiple frames (instead of bones that are used in most modern games) which when combined with the missing resolution has this result. It wasn't much of a deal back in the Quake 2 days, but as the rendering resolutions increase it becomes more and more noticeable.
Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about it, unless someone has the game's source, the original models with their animations and a will to modify the model format to use floating point numbers ."
I remember playing through this game a long time ago and it wasn't bad, honestly surprised they've remade this one. Games of this quality were fairly commonplace in its era, gaming so stagnant these days, i would love to just play through a well made 8-10 hour linear shooter.

then play it now. There's a small patch, made up of two files on gameswiki that adds wide res, adjusts fov automatically, a few extra options. You just copy the two files in the game folder and next time you enter it you have all the good stuff in the options.
This is a difficult, though pc only fps from the 90's. At the end of the trailer these guys say its "re-balanced and polished". Then you see they plan to release it on gaystation and switch.
They're gonna neuter the game in a lot of aspects. This game isnt designed in any aspect of its gameplay for controllers. The speed at wich you move is very fast, unsuited for pads. Thats gonna be the first thing that goes. I bet they're gonna slow the movement down.
The damage enemies do is gonna be reduced. Weapon behaviour nerfed. Probably gonna place more ammo and health in the levels. Reduce the enemy count so combat scenarios are easier. And so on.
Console turds. What should be a joyous ocassion with a modern release of a pc oldie, is always tarnished by the inclusion of consoles.
There's a few games in that era that I'd love to play a modem day version of such as Soldier of Fortune, Blood, NOLF, Heretic/Hexen, Undying etc. Hopefully this will leave developers scratching around for some of the forgotten IPs. Kingpin would have benefited from a remake judging by that video, leaving in that rendering system in 2020 is odd.

That's exactly what's gonna happen with that "re-balanced" in the "features", sadly. They gonna butcher it and make it a Barbie in the Land of the Rainbow Ponies game.
I admit I never finished it back in the days. It really needed big concentration and planning what to shoot and buy and what not. But my problem with it wasn't that much with the difficulty but the stupid braindead zombie companions who would either get stuck in a wall or fall from a fucking plank and die. Those fucks made me rage so much.
