Explore the unreal Ages of Myst in a new dimension!
Welcome to Myst: the starkly beautiful island, eerily tinged with mystery and shrouded in intrigue. Explore the deeper connections and uncover a story of ruthless family betrayal.
Cyan, the indie studio that created the beloved classic, has reimagined Myst. Built from the ground up to play in VR and flatscreen PC, with new art, sound, interactions, and even optional puzzle randomization. The highly anticipated Myst VR experience has finally arrived!
Journey to the Ages, unravel the puzzles, and be a part of the surrealist world that will become your own.
This one will probably get it right this time, because the realMyst master pee arse edition sucked.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Nice, I look forward to experiencing it again after all these years. Although alas I'll do it in potato flatscreen(tm)
Cyan have been working on a full-fledged title as well (Firmament) which seems pretty promising, hopefully they deliver on both counts.
Hello sir/ma'am
Have you tried obduction? I think one of the best in "this" generation. A bit similar to myst.
Aye Obduction was indeed the closest to Myst that we've had in recent times, as one would expect from these guys. A bit too artificially obtuse near the end in my opinion, but very satisfying and atmospheric nonetheless.
sar·casm | \ ˈsär-ˌka-zəm \
1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
b: the use or language of sarcasm
So I got it from steam for VR support.
Overall it's pretty good.
Luckily for me I finished the game once like 20 years ago, so I don't remember much of the game, puzzle solutions, etc..
I did give it a short play 2 years ago on a plane ride, and with VR/free roaming I feel like the puzzle mechanics are much easier because you don't need to go pixel hunting.
Spoiler:
In the cogs world for example, there's a hidden button that leads to a blue paper that I didn't stumble upon on mobile, but was easy to notice with free roaming. Also, the whole about the island rotation orientation got a lot easier
Agreed, it's a pretty solid remaking job. Although they took some liberties with the lighting and atmosphere, every element is there in a faithful manner and unlike RealMyst it doesn't suffer from performance issues, which is a plus. I think I'll wait until I'll build myself a new PC in 2030 though, this is the type of slow-paced immersive experience that gives its best when played in VR.
