These are the words of Conan the Barbarian as he strides across a desert wasteland, skulls and bones crushing beneath is sandaled feet, in the brand new cinematic trailer released today announcing Funcom's new game 'CONAN EXILES'. Available on PC in Early Access this summer, with a full launch on both PC and console to follow, 'CONAN EXILES' challenges players to survive, build and dominate in the brutal world of the greatest fantasy hero of all time: Conan the Barbarian.
"There is no better setting for an open-world survival game than the world of Conan," said Joel Bylos, creative director at Funcom. "Hyboria is a harsh and unforgiving land where only the strongest can survive while the weak are swiftly cut down. Whether it is hunting animals for food, fighting monsters and other players, or building entire settlements, we want to make sure players feel like they are really fighting to survive and prosper in the most brutal fantasy world ever."
'CONAN EXILES' is first and foremost a multiplayer game that can be enjoyed on both private and public servers, but it will also feature a single-player mode.

This poor IP man... one day it'll be used for something cool... one day...
Not while Funcom hold the rights. Anything they do will always be some multiplayer thing. Even in the highly likely scenario that this is cancelled before leaving early access, I seriously doubt they would give up the rights. Like all the other publishers they'd rather sit on it and do nothing than risk someone else possibly turning it into something successful.
are these mongoloids actually making more money with MMORPGs?
From their most recent financial report for Q3 2015 released in Nov (the Q4 report isn't due until the end of Feb):
Revenues in 3Q15 are [US$2,195,000] compared to [US$2,651,000] in 3Q14 following a gradual and expected decrease in sales from the current Live Games.
The loss for the period was [US$-224,000] compared to [US$-7,018,000] in 3Q14, and [US$-4,169,000] in 2Q15
The cash position at the end of 3Q15 was [US$1,106,000] compared to [US$2,118,000] at the end of 2Q15
It would seem they are losing a metric shitton of money, and have been for a while. So no, those mongolids are not, in fact, making any money with MMOs.

What's the deal with "Økokrim" that fined Funcom 1.5mil crowns for some shenanigans?

Based on some quick Googling, Økokrim is the "Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime". I found this statement:
Økokrim (the Norwegian National authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime) has charged Funcom N.V. based on suspicion of infringement of the provisions of the Securities Trading Act with regards to the financial information given to the market regarding The Secret World from August 2011 until the launch of the game in July 2012 and the two months following the launch. In the view of Økokrim, there also exists a probability that the company has not maintained the required log of information within the company during that time.
The Company is fully cooperating with Økokrim.
Basically they were up to some shady stockmarket manipulation/company reporting shit based around not providing accurate information about how badly they were doing financially (presumably to avoid tanking their stock value). I believe one of their execs was also involved in insider trading just before the game was released.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
I know a lot of people dislike Funcom, for whatever reasons, I enjoyed all of their products. They all launched as broken messes, but I loved one thing about each of those games. They were not copycats, innovation was indeed strong in each of them. TSW I think is one of the best MMOs, the single problem with it is combat.
I have hope for this game. My main problem with survival games is that they are ... all shit. Every single one of them. Glitchy, subpar shit. Very bad animation, truly horrific combat. Exceptionally bad net code, rubberbanding, etc. Also, the settings bore me.
I always like the idea of a survival game more than the games themselves, which means the games were complete and utter shit.
TSW is definitely an underrated gem but of course, the HURR DURR generation doesn't like reading so of course they think it sucks. TSW had brilliant story lines and a world that actually made sense. It played a lot like a single player game too. I should pick it up again sometimes.
For the Conan theme: I never really got into it too much because it lacks variation but it might be fun.
And the sad thing is that its partially funded by norwegians taxes. Its still our only big game developer in Norway, kinda sad tbh... at least to see what they have become. Good thing we finally have pretty good indie devs
