Probably a repost, but thought it was post worthy.

Electronic Arts: Video games firm wants to stop being 'hated'

"Can a computer make you cry?" It's 30 years since video games giant Electronic Arts ran an advert asking that question, adding that it believed the medium had the potential to "bring people's thoughts and feelings closer together".

Three decades on, if its audience is indeed weeping in unison, it may be in frustration.

EA has been voted the "worst company in America" two years running in an online poll by Consumerist magazine, and comments posted by gamers to other sites - complaining of "price gouging" and "arrogance" - confirm many dislike it.

EA can fuck right off. Forever. They're hated for a REASON and if they can't see that, then that's part of the problem.

I don't think it's that they don't see the reason, just that they wonder why they get singled out with the likes of Activision and Ubisoft around. And, more importantly, why they get slugged with worst company in America when far more "evil" corporations outside the game industry exist (which is actually a fair point).

Because Ubisoft dropped their horrendous DRM some time ago and actually tries to deliver this time for PC users with ports that are near the console release (or on the day of the console release)?

You'll get no argument from me that EA is a pack of assholes. Are they the worst game publisher? Debatable in my opinion - all publishers are pricks - but sure, I'll give you that. But worst company in America? No, not by a long shot.

Yes, Yes, and actually Yes.
(at least in the US)
Shell has had major land seepage in groundwater before and fusses about having to pay to clean up its customers water supply. They don't care if you have dirty water beyond the bad press it gives them.

They treat employees like crap. When my son was born I worked at a shell station. I had to BEG to get that day off he was born, they told me "Unless someone covers for you that you find yourself, it will be an unexcused missed day". Not to mention the stores general manager was always pressured into pushing as much gas, and cigarette sales as possible..since they are the 2 'high volume items". This was before the big "truth" anti cigarette push back in the early 90's. We was told to ask if they needed any cigarettes with the gas purchase. Even was $1 off 2 packs with $10 or more gas purchase.

And they don't come in and kill the local stations by sucking the profits out first true, they just buy them, tear them down right away and build their own shiny shell stations on it Smile

I'm in no way fussing about shell, or being all tree hugger "down with big oil". Just saying they are just as bad a company as the rest mentioned here.

Honestly Shell is one of the best employers in the Netherlands. I hope to be employed there one day.

Watch some investigative documentaries about Shell's actions in Africa.

OT: EA wanting my love? Shouldn't that be "money"? Must be a typo in the article.

What happened with BP was an accident, a horrifying and damaging accident, but an accident nonetheless. Is someone "evil" for causing an accident? No. Is EA evil for consciously choosing to destroy lives of developers and to constantly milk consumers dry? Yes.

I get most of the hate coming towards EA, but c'mon I mean they have had the BF franchise for so many years now and it hasn't been "destroyed" rather it kicked COD right in the balls and showed those fucktards at Activision they need to step up their game. And perhaps EA is starting to actually change? - The cancellellation of that awful game-code-shit-drm-system on the consoles, shows something is going on.

Accident because a company of that scale couldnt had measurements to prevent it? Chernobyl was an accident too. Is it also ok because they didnt made it on purpose? With that logic if you make a fuck up of that scale all you need to say is "I'm sorry it was an accident" and we are fine?

I mean let's be real se are weighting nature and human lives with a damn games.

And no I dont like EA at all but I can prioritize whats more important than mainstream entertainment.
