|
 |
I recently released a certain tutorial (that I ripped and packed, myself) to a certain P2P community and a few days later, I noticed that GFXiSO put out a 'similiar' release.
I downloaded the GFXiSO because I suspected that it was a rip-off of my release and found out that they simply used my files and deleted my .nfo and replaced it with their own.
The same thing happened with a previous release of mine and the release group AG ripped that one off.
Do I have any way of confronting these two groups?
It would be better if my releases were accepted here and my .nfo files posted here, on NFOrce.

If your release was real it should have been pre'ed then it would off appeared here automaticly. Aside from that I doubt you will find much more help or information about this matter.
good luck.

Same thing happened with the game Still Life. DiE ripped off a p2pers fix for the game. He released it on a forum but in clone format, and later DiE took credit for it, they just bin/cued the game. And yes I checked DiE's and the p2pers crack, they were exactly the same.

it happens pretty often in all parts of the scene.
Its the problem of the structure. If you re in the scene then its all about credits. So if you can rip off something from p2p, which doesnt count as a scene release you can easily repackage and get all the fame. Its morally questionable, but seems to work fine for some of the lesser individuals of the scene anyways. Talk about honour among thieves. At least some say so in their infos where they got their stuff from.
And Quasi_Mojo, if you want to get stuff released the scene-way, try to go through some of the nfos by dox/appz groups, depending on what you want to release, as most have contact info for suppliers...

TheSaint,
The first group that I noticed that ripped off my release was AG, with their release of "Lynda.com Php Essential Training (c) Lynda.com" - which they ripped off from me. I uploaded that tutorial to the Bittorrent network after ripping it straight from the Lynda.com website myself. I had no proof of their theft - only the knowledge that a text file (movies.txt) in their release was exactly the same as the one in mine. One could go to mininova.org and check the release date for my torrent. AG released theirs about a week or so after mine. This seemed to be the first lynda.com tutorial that was put out by a major release group that included the lynda.com Flash GUI interface. That was another giveaway that it was ripped off from me, as I release all my lynda.com tutorials with that same GUI.
Then along comes GFXiSO and their release of "Photoshop Cs2 For The Web Essential (c) Lynda.Com *TRAINING*". This last ripoff was a dead giveaway, as I put my "logo" onto the GUI, itself. I figured that if someone was going to rip me off so blatantly, I'd want some proof. If one were to watch the lower left corner as the GUI loads, my 'bunny in the hat' flashes and then the GUI transitions to the Chapters/Movies menu. Again, my release can be found at mininova.org.
I'll admit, I've repacked CFE's releases of lynda.com tutorials with the lynda.com Flash interface, but I've always given the credit for the original release to CFE - even going as far as including their .nfo file.
What AG and GFXiSO have done is dishonourable and inexcusable.
It only goes to prove that there is "no honour among thieves".

yes, but you have not really released something as you don't have pre'd your releases. Setting up a torrent is not a valid source for releasing in the scene and getting credit for it. It don't say i think it's right what they did.

But the ed2k is ...
Need proof ? Here u go ...
Cube.Zero.2004.DVDRiP.XViD-ViRUS was nuked because it was stolen from ed2k network !
Note from Cube.Zero.2004.PROPER.DVDRip.XviD-VALiOMEDiA
Code: |
-- [RELEASE NOTES] --
-- --
-- This is a proper of the ViRUS release, because their --
-- relase has an illegal watermark. We included a small --
-- sample of their release, so you can check it out. --
-- The message in the watermark says: --
-- "DvDrip By Forhaud [Magazine Team]" --
-- This caught our attention. After typing Forhaud to google, --
-- we found this link: --
-- It seems that ViRUS stole their release from some p2p --
-- battyboys or something. The link above indicates that --
-- there's some p2p release by Forhaud and his Magazine Team, --
-- which ViRUS decided to borrow or something... -- |

groups should be scene banned for stealing releases from p2p, but i guess not enough nuker / site-admins care about the problem...
