Harry Potter is set to return as the newly-minted Max announces a ten-year order to adapt it into a series.
Max has ordered a new Harry Potter TV series with a ten-year commitment, planning to adapt all the books. This follows rumors that HBO had plans for a Harry Potter reboot. Author J.K. Rowling will serve as an executive producer along with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts. In the announcement from HBO, the company said, "Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally."
Chairman and CEO, HBO & Max Content Casey Bloys also voiced his and the company's excitement to revisit the Wizarding World in the new series. "We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way," he said. “Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years."

Something which was never historically "problematic" can be super problematic over night = needs to be rewritten, remade, characters needs to be swapped around etc.
It doesn't seem to stop either, just seems to get worse. If you really like something make sure you get a physical copy of it, because within a few years it likely can't be sold or streamed anywhere because of lunatics pretending to find something outrageous with it (so that it can be erased or exchanged for something with their political message).

I'm no Harry Potter fan having missed the boat with the books, however, J K Rowling is fantastic and I support everything she does to stand up to the ridiculous minority uproar, and cowardly outlets too afraid to go against the grain.
