Roberto Gaston Orcí (July 20, 1973 – February 25, 2025) was a Mexican-American film and television screenwriter and producer. He is best known for co-writing the scripts to Transformers (2007), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) with his writing and producing partner Alex Kurtzman.

Orci died from kidney disease at his Los Angeles home, on February 25, 2025, at the age of 51

Together with J. J. Abrams and Alex Kurtzman he created Fringe TV series, and that's enough for me to think fondly of him.

Ouch, that hurts my kidneys. I'm pissing small stones since almost 3 years ago and I don't want to fathom what would be to have such a disease Neutral

RIP Orci. As you said, he was one of the creators of Fringe, and Fringe is... well, Fringe! I'll always cherish Dr. Bishop. Fantastic character, fantastic series.

Fringe was really good, but I'll never forgive him and Kurtzmann for the travesty that was Star Trek: Into Darkness. 2009, was okish, but ID was unbearable.

Anyway, rip.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
