Ok this is beginning to piss me off

my system

Xp2400
Epox 8rda
1gb Ram (elixir+vdata)
Radeon 9700 Pro
Seagate Barracuda 120gb
Encer 500w PSU
Liteon CD writer
Nec Dvd writer

Ok so since forever I have been having this problem....for example I can be surfing the net then after around 1hr or even 30 mins my system will reboot for no reason and this will be on going, through games it is alot worse I can manage about 20 minutes till it decides to reboot however ive been playing bf2 demo for 5 minutes and it reboots! the longest bf2 game ive had so far is 15 minutes! Sad

I have basically narrowed it down to either my PSU not giving my system enough juice or my GFX card is fucked ( i did buy my 9700 pro from ebay early last year) so Ive done everything as to do with gfx options in games like turn agp fast write off, vpu error fix off, secondary display/monitor off ect still this damn system wont let me play a decent game.

I would guess it's the temperature..

Download "Everest Home Edition".
It's a free app that shows you info about your computer.
You can also see the temp with it..
Check it out..

My old computer used to restart when it had to high temperature..

Fixed the problem with cleaning the fans.. Razz

I hate you.

That time of the year I guess, I know that USB modem connections can make computers unstable too, but that was in the past and I can't remember why.

Overheating would be my guess.

*Well a quick update*

according to bios its 41C inside case and 48C for the CPU!!!

Although its quite warm in my room how would one go about reducing the temp? maybe i should have used more thermal paste.

This has nothing to do with thermal paste, the airflow in your case is SHIT. Probably a rubish case... you need to either get a better case, or put more fans in it, or put it in a place where it can get lots of air Smile!

This may be just a stab in the dark, but have you tried testing the powersupply. Ive had a computer that rebooted randomly and it was a flakey power supply.

There could be a rectifer gone a stray. Check to see if there is any AC coming from the 5V power leads.

48C isnt that hot.

Hehhehe my bro's comp does that now Sad
If it continues just open up the computer case and leave it open for the summer... It's deffinetly the heat.

About Hitman: Movie (2007)
Vin Diesel is a hardcore gamer, and absolutely loves the Hitman series. For that reason I have faith that he wont destroy the movie.

Response: Well, Uwe Boll probably loved the Alone in the Dark games.

I have some issues with my PC too.
PC works for like 4-5months but then it reboots radomly. Then I found out, that one the the Rambars is broken. It writes wrong data sometimes and corrupt my games, windows etc.

No fix so far. No money for another Rambar.

PSU's can also give out too much power when broken causing heat to rise, this was happening to me a month or so back so I replaced my PSU and added a new HSF and the problem was solved Smile!
