With the new Vista beta, none of the sf3 games work because Windows security prevents installation of starforce drivers. If this is going to be a standard feature, I could see the end of sf3 protection...lol

We'll see SF4... probably with different approach, and less deep drivers... but SF will still be where it is now...

well considering that patching the drivers starforce seems to be perfectly clonable even with old daemon tools... dunno what they are gonna invent...

The cracked releases will work only the 2 VM/Driver crack Ultima releases..will not work
unless starforce will bring out new drivers or make an deal with Microsoft to install the sf drivers standart into the new Windows Vista .

if SF port an version to xbox360console its possible but its unlikly coz SF people knows that theire protection would be crumbled by the mod chip teams .

Lol if SF would be on consoles then you would see some stupid loading screen, checking discs and if your console would be too old then it wouldn't be able to read the game anymore(e.g.SF protected game in the year 2008 with a console bought in 2006 Wink )

i dont think it will have something. MS has its own protection development team and they wont pay for russian protections. Developing a VM is not so hard and using cdcheck routines from their own protection and maybe their serial protection then its enough.

MOD chips against a hardware related protection. they need then somehow the possiblity to generate dpm data files from orig cds and then implement them somehow into the modchip loader.
No easy task.

Of course starforce games will work one way or another when the final retail version is out, it would just be stupid if not and it would hurt microsoft.

would hurt microsoft?
microsoft has a little more power than sf dev... if microsoft does not plan to allow those drivers they have to rethink their protection.
but winxp works not that bad so if vista doesn't have major improvemens i think almost everyone would stay with xp for another couple of years probably...
if vista does not accept those drivers starforce can easily stay untouched for 12 months probably, then they have to change something for vista

Microsoft is a company, and a company wants to earn money, and if people dont buy vista, microsoft will not get "any" cash.
There will be quite many games with starforce when vista gets released, imagen how much it would hurt microsoft if these people stayed with xp and skipped vista.
Microsoft WANTS you to change os when they release a new one, but why would you if many good games dont work?

Like I said, it would just hurt microsoft to not have support for starforce3 protected games.

if starforce games don't run under windows vista publishers will change protection company... easy as hell.
sf dev have to make their protection compatible with windows vista, not microsoft!

I can even bet money on that SF3 games will work without any problems when vista goes retail.
It would be totally stupid if they didn't, for obvious reasons.
