Has anyone seen this flick? Heard from a friend that it was an amazing movie and she was gonna see it again..
And the million dollar question, how is the scene progressing on this with all the fuzz going on in the US?

I saw a preview at a cinema in Sweden. No cam.
Why is it most people that argue with me keep inventing things to try and make some sort of point?

Now you're making shit up again - I never, ever said every other actor "sucks", or that Oldman was "uber god", those are your own wordings. I think Tom being a bad actor AND being one of the main characters in the movie says a bit about it. Tom can't handle all this screentime.

fisk I watched the movie last night, it not a great movie and it's not a bad one ether it has it's moments nice effects sound and visual . It's a bomb rush the first hour then the story dies. But if you are a spielberg fan you should see it

That, on the other hand is a good question.
Not that I hate Tom, I'm just annoyed with him.
It might be for the fact that I dislike Tom, but it might also be because of so god damned many holes in the script.
I don't want to give too much away, but there's one particular scene where there's an EMP that knocks out all electronic equipment, including Tom's watch, etc. ... they make a big effort of showing how everything running on electricity is destroyed.
Moments later, this big thing on walking legs (Half-Life 2) steps in - CUT TO:
People taking pictures of it with camcorders and cameras.
Which is highly illogical, and dumb in my opinion.

Oh, and as many people on IMDB noted, the ending in this flick is anticlimactic.

ps. Even more bias on my side regarding this movie is that I'm no big fan of Spielberg either.

nfo states runtime 116 minutes as does IMDB
cd1 - 54 mins
cd2 - 50 mins
cd2 finishes before credits, anyone confirm how close to the end it is, i presume it is very close the land is demolished and the baddies are dead (sounds like a kiddie comment) but the narrator is cut off in midflow ??

I went to see it last night, couldn't stand the pressure =) Most excellent movie though a little confusing story, but only makes you see it twice and love it even more! Best effects i've seen in a movie for quite some time.. The whole "family reunion" thing is what it is, and there is no removing it... If it wasn't there the film would be nothing but a dumbass action movie!

I have to agree with fisk here. Some major annoying plot holes. I totally could have done without Tim Robbins part in the movie. Aside from those things the movie was fairly entertaining.

i dont agree with most above...
i love the movie - saw it at an advanced screening and yes i was hyped.
im no big spielberg fan but i honestly think cruise should be nominated for an oscar for his acting in WOW. As should Dakota - her talent is not of this world... amazing
i LOVED Star Wars 3 but im IN LOVE with War Of The Worlds.
loved every second of it... only flaws imo is the stupidity by spielberg... WHY THE FUCK DID YOU SHOOT THIS IN WS AND NOT CINEMASCOPE???!! and Digital EX audio... pfft...
nevertheless - best movie of the year for me... awaiting King Kong - trailer rlsd on june 29th is wicked...
