well I dunno, I dont have a joystick and tried getting it to accept my mouse as control device so I can play it like X2 for example but the only way to control the ship seems to be with a joystick or with the keyboard.
if it had controls like Freelancer I'm sure it would be fun though..

OMG! I know im pulling up a year old thread, but I do for good reason. I was searching for a space sim, I done some searching, and I came accross this. Now, looking at the screen's I really didnt think much of the game, but thats not what Im about, so I downloaded it and installed. During the wait I read the official forums, loads of people where going on about how amazing and underated this game was, I was getting excited  !
Once I began to play I wasnt that impressed, till I pulled out my joystick and got full stuck in. This game is not only a flight/space sim with a crap load of action, its also an RTS! IF your commanding a larger vessel you can order 10's of other ships, launch backup from yourself and tell them what to do, you can jump to other star systems and attack people, OMG, its AWSOME! I havent fully gotten into the game, I've simply completed the training, but it showed the different aspects of the game amazingly, and they look great! Air to ground attacks, space attacks, using huge vessels or just little fighters! If you want a space sim, GO GET THIS!

This is meant to greatly improve the games GFX.. Ill test and report back !
