Ok, my current GFX card is completely fucked, it has all kinds of graphical corruption in 80% of the games, so it's pretty much useless. So i was thinking of buying a new one. My question is, is it worth buying an AGP card now that they are no longer being made, or should i save my money and buy a brand new PCI express system? If i go for the latter i'd have to pretty much replace everything, including mainboard, GFX card, CPU and RAM since i doubt any of my current stuff will work on the latest mainboards. Or i could save a few hundred € and simply buy a new GFX card and RAM. What do you guys think. Also, is an AMD Athlon CPU running at 2.2 Ghz enough? Will that last well into the future or do i need to upgrade that too?

BTW my current setup is a Geforce FX5950 Ultra 256mb. RAM is 512mb of PC3200, and the CPU is a 2.2ghz Athlon XP.

Gigabyte S-Series GA-G33-DS3R, Intel C2D Quad Q6600 OC @ 3.2Ghz, 4gb Kingston PC8500 1066Mhz DDR2, Geforce 7800GTX (will get a 9800GTX when they are released), 2 x 250Gb HD's and a case with built in paper and lotion dispenser.

Hard to say, the new PCI-E systems are pretty pricey, it might be best to buy a replacement card for your system and wait a till next year to fully upgrade. Your CPU isnt that hot, and you need more ram.. so I guess your in need of an upgrade, but you should be able to play 90% of todays games (on lower settings) without any issues..

a few budget yet decent cards (USED as I dont think its pointful buying a brand new card right now)
