I recently bought a new motherboard and CPU, those 2 new guys are running great. No problem with that.

I tried selling my (not THAT) old cpu/mobo combo to my friend, he agreed and I proceeded to the transfer.

Everything is plugged, every fan is spinning, but the monitor is getting no signal.
I tested the monitor on my computer, it works.
I tested the video card, it works.
I tested another video card with my old mobo/cpu. It doesn't work.

I can tell you nothing about POST, since his case's speaker is long dead.

No matter what I do, I can get no display from my motherboard and CPU. Nothing at all, as if nothing was plugged. Thing is, the gfx card's fan is spinning. So is the CPU's. what could be the issue here?

Oh, he has a 450w power supply, which is in mint condition. I've even tried with another working PSU, to no avail.

Help! please Smile

Motherboard and gfxcard model would be nice here

but it could be :

first but not likely, if the RAM is damaged u will get no picture(as if the gfx or cpu where damaged) or the ram might be to slow/fast for the motherboard(unsupported)

second and more likely, the OLD motherboard does not support the rec. AGP speed/specs

thirdly the jumpers on the motherboard(if it has jumpers) might not be configurated to the gfxcard, again agp issue

but without the model info, im sorry, i dont really know Sad

Clear the cmos, either by removing the battery for a few mins or setting Jumper1 to clear cmos, then back to normal.

This should allow the monitor to pick up the signal from the card.

If not, then possibles are already said

The memory could be a problem

or

the GFX card could be faulty or not placed correctly.

or

If you have to set CPU speed manually by jumpers make sure its set right.

rip the speaker from yuor case, or just make your own using an old stereo speaker.

you could diagnose it with ease if you could get a speaker.
