im going to be flamed
anyway its a problem with BitTorrent :O
I dont know if any1 else has this porob but recently when tryin to grab some stuff (because it IS uselessful in some cases ) the torrents have been freezing after 30seconds = 5mins of connecting. It happens with both clients (ABC + BitTorrrent) I'm wondering if this is a port issue although Ive never heard of my ISP throttling ports AND I use a range different to the normal ports. Its not a tracker problem because it hapens on them all and I haven't done anything to make this happen (because it didnt happen in the past) O.o

3. Don't post any info about where you get your stuff including applications, sources, links, name of webpages and so on. This includes "TORRENTS", Kazaa etc. You are not allowed to discuss this here!

what exactly do you mean by "freeze". does the download speed just go down to zero or do you get an error? do you keep or lose the connections?
anyways, did you try to reinstall the clients? that worked whenever i had torrent problems

STFU he isnt breaking the rules, go annoy people in another thread!
If it was really a port issue then chances are you would not see any connection, it could be a firewall issue, in that your firewall sucks and is damaging the packets.. it could be a general route issue within your network, so the ports are fine, but they're not being forwarded to you properly thus you get some of them but not all!
Could also be a ISP thing. What ports are you using? Is forwarding setup on your router? Give us some more info !

they just freeze. they say they're going at say 200ks but then it just freezes. Same with ABC though. I havent done anything to the network or router to cause this change. I might fuck about with it tonight, reinstallin and using a different range

what a fucktard by torrents they mean dont post "im getting this http://hashbifffamilyfuckfest/family1.torrent" i'm talking about bittorrent as a protocol regardless of wether u can download illegal files is different. I'm not asking on how to get them. Equally if some1 was havin proibs d/lin with firefox / internet explorer etc. ur not gonna say that deserves a ban because warz sites still exist
anyway.... I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and no luck. I dont think I did it all properly though, removing registryies etc. so i'll try once again some other time when I can be arsed.

I dunno dude, don't think its worth it. From what your saying its probably something before it gets to your computer. Are your port routes setup right?

Well i carried on for another 20mins after that and discovered they leave hidden folders C:\Documents and Settings\subliminal\Application Data\.BitTornado
I deleted it all but the problem still exists. i'm going to defrag and if this doesnt work then ima try a new 'bigger' port range and see how it goes, if that fails idk what im gonna do. I cant let a stupid shitty app defeat me

try azureus for your client and a port range of 49152 through 65535, works fine for me. cause i have had the same kindof problems that you are talking about.

Perhaps you need to shut off your firewall? That could be blocking/damaging the packets, giving you this problem.

could also be your router/hub/switch wich could be broken, do you have a high error rate or lost packages in your network?

There could also be a problem with anti-virus software.
If you have enabled Internet scanning, it might interrupt with the tracker, as it uses the http protocol and port 80.
If you are able to exclude the torrent-client from scanning (this will vary on the different AV-clients), it might solve the problem.
I had a similar problem with the newest Azureus, but going back to 2.2.x.x solved that problem.
It would also help if you could try it on another computer inside your network and see if it works there.

Well I did 2 defrags (even with only 4% space remaining ) and reinstalled ABC and just left the settings as normal instead of specifying my ports from the router and it seems to be fine
