I have to agree. They should be working on the original release rather than something which would be a free download through Steam.
I've had the original game a few weeks now, yet I cannot play it as it crashes my system. I know what the problem is, Punk Busters awful coding sending out through the Nvidia port. The joy.

What a rip-off, releasing a game with one gamemode and what is it 12 levels or something, and ask money for an expansion. My (naive) mind realy expected free new content.

man i was playing in a server yesterday & i was like " i hope 2 play maps in night .. " w00t ....cause i play Americas Army where they have SF maps which is nice.. but damn we have to pay 4 this $h!t?? thats BS unless they fix all of them bugs * yeah right*..

With all the memory problems and whatnot that's already plaguing this game I'm kinda surprised to see an expansion announced so soon (though knowing EA...) :/ Just release an SDK already so we can see some user mods, eh! Peace,

The first buggy patch WAS out (they did a rollback because the patch makes the game even more buggy) and now they release the expansion.
How the f*ck do they only consider to release this addon based on the code of the original BUGGY BF2 that is not working 100% (even not 50% if you take a look at their forums).
This is exactly how it was when BF:Vietnam was released => a buggy update after a couple of months (!!!) and after another couple of months a(free this time) addon. They didn't solve their problems with the game...ever.

Battlefield support has always been good.
And if you cared to actually read (and most of you don't) they have TWO TEAMS working on the game.
One for patches, and one for new content.

The expansion is being made by DICE canada, DICE sweden is ONLY working on the original game patches etc. Improving the original game. The expansion doesnt interfere AT ALL in ANY WAY with the patch development.
So shut up with those idiotic "i gotta be mad at someone" comments like "fix the game before making an expansion", SEPERATE TEAMS.
And there are 6 new armies and 12 new weapons and 7 or so new maps.
