A couple of years ago, prior to the EA buy of Origin, Origin released a collection of the first three games in the Wing Commander-series - fully compatible with modern Windows Operative Systems. This meant that you could play the three classics with improved graphics + sound (et cetera) on ie. Windows 2000/XP, without needing to slow down your computer through external means. Also, a lot of modern joystics were supported, and the music was re-done (from low-quality midi, to high-quality mp3). --- There were however very few copies released of this 5 CD gem, and EA, being the greedy customer-unfriendly bastards they are chose to discontinue the reproduction of this package. Being the crazy Wing Commander fanatic I am, I'm wondering if anyone know of any scene-release of this package, or whether it's purchaseable via internet-download. I looked it up on eBay, and people are selling it for top dollar (~100 bucks for the item) ... I don't know if I'm that much of a fan... Has anyone on these forums got this release? Can you verify the quality of it? If I'm indeed forced to shell out ~100$ - I want it to function well. Also, any hints in the procurement of this would be appreciated. I've been looking around local stores for "Value Packages" of it (that someone told me were in existence) but no avail. Yes, yes I'm back. Somewhat.

I've seen it in newsgroups in the past, emule might have it, I do remember getting it at one point or another, don't have it anymore.

Being a Fan myself play wing commander 3 , 4 and prophecy ones a year , I would sugest u to go 2 http://www.wcnews.com/ they got bargians sometimes , would try there if not good luck hunting the game

aww man i lived for Wing Commander on the SNES and WC3 on the 3DO... top class actors in the FMV... luke skywalker, malcom mcdowell. not sure how good the graphics would be and how playable it would be compared to modern day games though, even if they were "souped up for modern machines" which means they maybe added 3dfx support or something equally as crap. they need to make a new wing commander with a new game engine. but we've been requesting an Elite game for decades with no joy so i dont hold any hope for space shooters any more

I don't really care if the graphics are outdated, it's the gameplay that's just not available today I'm after. Yes, yes I'm back. Somewhat.

Ah, but that's just the rip-versions of Wing Commander I & II... III isn't included, and the extras have been removed. But thanks any way Yes, yes I'm back. Somewhat.

I used emule to download WC Saga (5CDs), WC4 (6CDs), and WC Prophecy (3CDs). All full version. It is painfully to get but eventually you'll get all of them.
