Funny.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

did they spoof the release as the alias group, or is that one actually cracked by the group?

The game is awesome, if a little difficult, and if you liked the iOS/Android "Game Dev Story" - you'll love this one. Greenheart took GDS and improved on it enormously, there's a lot more to do in GDT than there ever was in GDS and it plays great. Fairly difficult though, thanks to the "slider" based development system - it can take a while to get to grips with each aspect of development. I grabbed the yarr copy because I'm broke as fuck, but stopped playing at around Year 8 as I enjoyed it too much and wanted to get the legitimate one, so I never encountered the constantly-pirated dilemma.
Definitely worth buying, especially for a measly eight bucks (or 49kr here)
And yes, the "all your games get pirated and you go bankrupt" trigger stuff was hilarious. Much prefer that than draconian DRM, though Greenheart did miss a chance to convert pirates into customers by not offering a "This is a pirated copy. If you like it, click here to upgrade to a full" option. Instead the game just brutally destroys you and you're left thinking "this is shit, too buggy, never going back"

Where is the "Get rid of our moron DRM and make it worthwhile to people to buy!" option?
(I mean in the game, not that necessarily this game is riddled with DRM.)

It's there In the "proper" version of the game, the non-trigger seeded one, you're given the option on how to tackle piracy and fangames -- you can choose to ship your games without DRM if you wish, or you can choose to actually put development into new DRM systems. There's always going to be *some* piracy of your shipped games (much like life) but the same mantra in life applies here; make a great game and people will buy it, make a shitty one (or, well, have dodgy "reviews") and it won't sell as much.
Oh and there's no DRM at all in the real GDT, just a code-change (increased piracy) on the Yarr version that Greenheart put out. You get a DRM-free version when you buy, or you can have a Win8/Steam copy if and when Steam is approved.
@Mutie
It really is like a better version of GDT, it's a lot more involved and I definitely recommend to fans of either the iOS version of GDS or the PC-JP release. Speaking of, I'm still waiting on a proper translation from AdeptGamer, despite having paid for it almost a year ago. I have my doubts they're ever going to finish :\
@Warriormax
Thank you I'm a pirate and I don't hide it, but I still go out of my way to buy games that are worth it when I can afford to.
@Areius
I hadn't tried that one yet

It's regional (which you can change too) - but usually it's $8/£5/49kr or thereabouts. Greenheart said they're trying to get Steam keys for existing buyers, but that all depends on whether it gets Greenlit or not. Sadly a lot of people are tearing the game apart since it's so (very!) similar to GDS.

Unfortunately this jokey little dig at pirates has had a rather negative affect, as rather than thinking "oops, we dun goofed, okay.. you caught us, we'll go buy" - they have flooded the developer site with indignant tirades about Greenheart stealing GDS and - as such - don't have the "right" to complain about pirates.
*sigh*
That really is a shame.
Also, I apologise to Leo; apparently there is one restriction on the main game - people are claiming it only allows you to install on 3 machines at once, just like SecuROM. I haven't verified this myself, but if it's true then yeah.. Greenheart need to stop selling it as "DRM-free" Though, as I said, I can't find any confirmation about that so it could just be the same people trying to poison public opinion.

Hi sabin
Personally I believe they got way more exposure than they could have ever hoped for, and in the end even the "bad" publicity they get will do them good.
Because honestly how many of us have heard of this game before today?
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Hey consolitis
You're right, this kind of exposure is fantastic! They're on all the major gaming sites front pages now, thanks to this, so it's drawing tons of attention and - hopefully - it will end up being profitable. Up until a few weeks back, this was a Windows 8 exclusive, so I don't doubt not many people had heard of it -- and yes, Greenheart are certainly using the fanbase's love of Dev Story to sell this, but so what? It's an expanded, improved, clone of the game and I'm happy with that. Kairosoft haven't complained about it, so I don't see why indignant pirates should either :\
It's just a shame that there are bad elements on the main site now, doing anything and everything to kick up a fuss. I'm just waiting for the "fraud" card to be played now, in relation to Greenheart uploading a modified pirates-only version via torrents.
~edit~

No physical DRM. The EULA simply specifies that you can only "legally" install on 3 machines at once, it's not enforced by software limitations.
