Hi!

I was just reading a thread about a demo (this one) and I don't know why would anyone put anykind of protection on a game demo.

It just doesn't make sense...

Does anyone know?

yes cause if you analyze unprotected demo exe you may be able to get some info to crack the protected final exe more easy .

Really? I didn't realise that...

But are the demo's .exe and the final retail game's .exe so similar to each other?

it depends wich game probably they do it just for precausion..,
with some games even an unprotected demo exe works flawless with protected final game.. smart programmers just use different code only demo code in the demo exe but sometimes n00b programmers use final code to compile the demo exe Very Happy

An example is Still Life, from what I've read all you needed to stop their protection was to copy some files from the demo
I didn't install the demo myself so I don't know for sure, but what's the point in lying about this in an nfo (I believe that's where I read it)
So I played the game, finished it, uninstalled it, and bought it as soon as it was released where I live (which took quite some time)
