Sorry but I had to laugh cuz Ive had shit like that happen to me so many fuckin times...
One time i had some serious problem, cant remember what it was now, but I phoned my comp manufacturer, they told me to phone microshit, I phoned them, they told me to phone my comp manufacturer and speak with a senior tech, called my comp manufacturer, asked for a senior tech, after waiting for an hour i got a hold of one, he tells me to phone microshit, i phone microshit, ask for a microshit senior tech guy, puts me on hold for an hour as it was a "Level 3" problem and he was only level 2...so i had to wait for a senior, senior tech (??) and finally got the problem solved...emailed me a website where i could download the windows boot 6 disk essential files and shit....anyway, solved the problem...but i lost alot of data....and these ppl get good money for this shit...always remember that. Ive cursed those ppl out nuff times, u should try it, might help relieve the frustration and anger....
But thats life man....knocks ya down and keeps kicking and kicking and kicking and kicking....

Partition is your best friend. One for windows, one for all your essential files and music and such. I also make bi-monthly windows drive images, meaninging i can restore to a fully working machine in like 2 hrs.

Thanks for the tip, I'm reinstalling Windows XP this weekend. My Windows is now FUBAR after two years of intensive usage; explorer.exe is buggy and games keep crashing to the desktop.

Better get a tape recorder, complete images will be gigantic.

he meant the c: partition.. the one that only holds windows, programs etc... you dont need to format the other partition with all your personal files, movies, mp3s... just defrag it from time to time... so he has the c: partition backed up and can restore a clean system if he messed up anything in the time after the backup
i personally have it like that too... but i only backup my pics, writings etc to a 80g external drive and put it to a save place... if i compare losing personal stuff like my pictures comared to some movies(which i can redownload anyway) theres only 1 choice... personal data in a safe place... ive lost alot of pics and some lyrics before... i was close to beating the whole machine to pieces... so remember kids backups can save your day... some day...
