http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEkyklyAkFMxQBapXl.php makes me wonder how the 360 is protected on the hardware level. Granted I don't know much about the subject, but I'm assuming the SmartXX crew is on top of this. Now correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they develop a chip for the 360? I saw the article on xbox-scene.com about them getting some dev kits and gutting them... ugh, too much Jager. Slap me if I'm being a dumbass. I guess this is the next gen mod prediction thread, lol

How do you come to that conclusion? It is a Microsoft spokesman being quoted...
SmartXX has a few dev-kits and are most likely playing around with those, on the other hand it COULD be so that they have been sent back but i doubt it.

I think that the weakness of the Xbox 360 will be somewhere on the software level instead of the hardware level this time. Xbox had its Debug port (LPC) on the motherboard, regular xbox 360 will have no debugports, I doubt there will be a lot of unsoldered points that can interrupt and change signals.
I also doubt that Microsoft has left a sniffable trace as they did on the xbox.

But seeing how complex they are saying that the dashboard will be I doubt that they can make it bug-free... Very Happy

That is where I think it will all be the way we want it. Maybe someone will leak the source of the dashboard too and thus making it possible for people to find exploits that way.

Time will show, but of course I hope there will be a good chip softmod is not really my thing.

the dash doesnt run soley off the HD in the 360 tho which makes software modding harder

Isn't the amazing SmartXX the ones who mistook a small hole in the xbox motherboard being covered in resin to be a new revision and then boasted that their chips were the only ones to work with the mystical 1.7 xbox ?? I hope I'm mistaken and it was some other chip maker, if everybody is pinning their hopes on those guys I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????
