Im currently looking to build a comp, mostly for gaming and I have some question...I can spend about 2000$ can (about 1400$us)

I wanna get an AMD 64(i think)....should i get an FX? or X2? or a P4?

I also wanna put 2gig of ram and want to be able to expand it to 4gig, what ram is the best and what board should I use with that ram/processor?

I already have my vid card...ATI RADEON X800XL

So i would like to know what you guys would get...considering Im currently using a P4 2,53 768ram and i want better/faster

any help/comments would be appreciated

Sorry for my poor english my main language is french ;p

Definetly stick with AMD it outclasses the P4's in terms of gaming.

I think your GPU is an AGP card?

Since you have the money go for a FX53 or FX55, and a cheap good board is the ASUS A8V Deluxe (939 pin) and its even wireless Wink

Also remember to get your memory from a reputable company, like Corsair or Crucial, and others, some have a lifetime warranty so you wont have to buy new memory if one went down. And stay clear of cheap unbranded memory it will cause more problems than you shouldnt be getting.

Just remember to get good cooling, i.e. case fans etc.

Yes it is since AMD doesnt support DDR2 yet.

So technically at the moment DDR 400 (PC3200) is the highest speed you can put in.
