Hi,

My cpu gets to hot.
Meaning that my motherboard alarm [loud alarm Laughing] goes off everythime cpu gets like 70 celcius.

http://www.skidrow.nl/nforce/fans.jpg

yes, side from the case is always open.

motherboard temp is good. never goes higher then 40 and almost all the time a steady 37 celcius.

cpu on the other hand goes nuts.
going from 52 idle to 64 idle.
when i'm doing something photoshop or playing a game. [morrowind for exp.] the cpu goes to 58 to like 70 celcius which makes the alarm goes off.

any tips.

ty Cool

3 in 1 out is your first problem. 40 sys temp is hot in my opinion, mines currently 27/28 idle. You need to balance the air flow otherwise air will get trapped, Id move one of your front fans to the back firstly.

The heat sink fan on your CPU looks TINY, its no doubt stock which explains part of the issue, you should also take it off and re-apply the thermal paste as you could have a heat pocket caused by paste build up around the side of the core causing an air pocket in the middle trapping heat.

Plus the wires are covering part of your fan, which is bad.

If that doesnt work test with a new PSU as it could be giving out too much power causing overheating Smile! Good luck budd.

::edit::

Forgot to meantion, try adding a "blow hole" to the top of the case to eject air, thats pretty helpful for heat removal!

Yeah thats a good plan for now.

Id firstly get some of this:HERE

Then look into something LIKE these (make sure I got the correct socket type, I don't know what socket the 2500XP uses but I think I got the right one Smile) : 1 , 2 , 3 , 4

Take a look at some reviews too Smile Im currently using this cooler, and it works awsome, but I kow there are better coolers out there, this one is a bit of a bitch to install.. HERE

haha yeah, thats an old photo, its much nicer now Razz, but that shows the size of the HSF Smile!

The blower pulls air in and a case fan right behind it pulls the air out.

Yeah, do all the other things first: Add the new case fan, clean up the core and re-apply thermal paste, test with another PSU and try and use Artic Silver Smile, thats pretty awsome stuff, usually cuts heat a decent amount.

::edit::

BTW, my temps above are mainly due to my case / room setup, so don't expect it to be the same Very Happy! I have a Thermaltake Xaser 5 with a 120mm blow in, 80mm in, 80mm blow hole, 2 80mm side fans and an 80mm back fan Very Happy! My room is cold too Very Happy.

you should clean your cpu fan first. Make sure there is no dust in the heatsink. I have bought some compressed air in a can to clean my cpu heatsink regulary. Without cleaning my cpu temp went to 87 degrees last summer, but the cpu was still working fine Smile

Syn, thats a COOOOOL CPU.

My system typically runs at 21-22 System temp and my processor around 51 under heavy load. I am using all air cooling. 3 in, 3 out. Two in the front for intake, two in the back for exhaust, one on the top for extra exhaust and one on the side for extra intake. Makes for a jet engine of a sounding computer, but it runs gorgeously. The green glow of the case and blue glow of my video card go nicely with my blue glowing keyboard Very Happy

As sYn said, your problem is mostly airflow and a weak heatsink. XP2500's run hot to begin with. Adding the blowhole to the top is good, just make sure you add a fan blowing out up there. Also, while you're cutting that hole, cut out the crappy grille on the back of your case where your two exhaust fans are.. That will help move a lot of air out too..

My system is completely aircooled too.. I just put my system into a new acrylic case last week with lights and stuff.. Stays at 35c when idle and goes to 45c under full load. Its a P4 2.53 ghz with a GeForce 6800GT. Check it out:

Oh.. One other thing.. Make sure you take everything out of the case before doing any cutting.. There will be metal shavings all over the place that can cause serious damage. Vacuum out the entire inside before putting the motherboard, etc back in.

I'm all air cooled but that screenie was taken in OPTIMAL conditions, it usually sits around the 30 mark idle and can get pretty hot underload. You can't get those sort of temps with simple air cooling haha, not for large periods of time anyway. Currently my temps are:

CPU :: 31
Sys Zone 1 :: 26
Sys Zone 2 :: 26

I would close the case so the fans can proberly blow out the air the way they were designed to

Bigger heat sink {make sure heat sink is on properly}I have thermalright Ax7 {love it}

artic silver thermal paste

the fan should be ok {clean it}

My Cpu is at 36 c good luck

P.S. Your cables are a mess, you could shave off 5 c know prob if ya tie them up with swist ties Very Happy
