My friends have recently entered into University and in order to play Warcraft 3, they have to do something called port tunelling.. Though an experienced Computer User, I am not really sure what the hell this is, and I've looked online the best I could only to find linux based solutions. I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me, and perhaps give me a place to read up on it, and understand how to do it.

Well you will need a server outside the college network to fix that. Easiest method IMO is to have a SSH server and having them tunnel ports through that.

Basically, it's sending data to one server wich has the daemon listening on the specified port and reroutes the data to another server and port.. This is necessary for evading firewall or router filters that block traffic on some ports.
FE let's say your university allows outgoing access on port 80 (HTTP) and that's it. You set up a port tunneling on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:80 (external server, not part of your subnet) to reroute the data to warcraft.server.com:20000 (just an example). Then, from W3, just connect to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:80 and play the game Smile
There are window programs also (tcpr.exe is the only one i know)..

Hey, I got my tunneling program (http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/solutions/http_tunnel/client.asp) to work for IRC, but i cant seem to get it to work for warcraft 3. I'm not really sure what im doing but i read all the read mes and i thought im doing it right, unless i have to change a setting in war3, but i cant seem to find anything to do with ports in the options.

any more help would be greatly appreciated, or if you know an easier way with a different program would be great too.
