"The unholy sword was sealed by the destined one, but a mysterious individual has revived the azure knight, Nightmare. Now the legendary battle of Soul Calibur and Soul Edge continues with the PlayStation 2 exclusive, Soulcalibur III. Which sword will ultimately prevail? To find out, players can assume the role of more than 20 classic characters and three new ones as they follow their fate in the Tales of Souls. Users can even battle it out against their friends in the ever-popular versus match or create their own original characters with Creation mode. For the ultimate challenge, gamers can even rise through the ranks in the World Competition mode and explore the history of past Soulcalibur games with in the Museum."

Mods, delete this whole thread, it's pointless now. There will be a new one when the FULL game arrives.

Edit: If I werent so quick to start the game, I would have noticed that most stuff can not even be selected. Laughing

Which characters can you use? Or is it exactly like the OPM demo?

PS2 only = lose.

I loved the 3 versions, 3 guest characters from SC2.

The Gamecube version of II was my favorite one. Its a shame this one is Ps2 only, though it does look nice.

I'm glad the wait is over, although Namco disappointed me for not developing an Xbox version.

Do i feel sorry for xbox owners - YES i do, Why? you may ask...... well after playing

simply put this is the most stunning visual game on the PS2, the level of detail is simply amazing and i cannot believe that the PS2 is simply doing it all, but it is and with no slowdown. Its simply a visual masterpiece, them screenshots above on 1st post do not come near to what you see when in action.

Also the amount of stuff to do now is incredibible, loads of ways to play the game, story mode, quest mode, tournament mode, ladder modes.

All i can say is i think maybe they did it right this time and concentrated on 1 platform instead of going multi platform, the last Soul Calibur was testment to this although good this version is deffo the best Soul Calibur to date.

If you don't grab this then your missing out!

But it's just another beat'em up. There's nothing special in this one, right? They are so boring, especially in single-player mode. I think I won't even grab this one. I downloaded them all - Tekken, VF, DOA, SC, MK and I never played them. I wonder why they still make so many of these games. Wouldn't two or three good ones be more than enough for the multiplayer fans?

thats why the quest mode is so good in this, plus the new battle leagues. If you don't grab it thats up to you maybe not your cup of tea, but i'm saying that out of all the beatemups this is the best one to date.

It looks similar to the Tekken series (Namco!).But the Tekken characters don't have weapons (except Yoshimitsu, who doesn't use his sword much), so I think I'm going to get this one. It got a "great" at GS as well, so why not.

Don't understand why there's no Xbox version, cause the prequel sold better on Xbox. But what the hell, I'll just get it on PS2 instead. Gotta wait for it to pop up in stores here first tho, cause my PS2 aint modded.

And Weedo, this is not "just another beat'em up". The Soul Calibur series have always done things differently. This is better than "just another beat'em up".

Oh, and here's a review: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/661/661222p1.html
