Computer And Video Games reports learning that preliminary development on Brothers in Arms 2 is underway, well in advance of the release of the first BiA World War II shooter (the non-announcement a stark contrast to the build-up to revealing the original game). They quote Gearbox military adviser Colonel John Antal as saying "We're working on the sequel," and they say that part of the European tour to promote Brothers in Arms will provide research for the follow-up. It's possible the second game would center around Operation Market Garden, though the Battle of the Bulge was also mentioned as a future battlefield as well, as Colonel Antal goes on to say: "We're going to follow Sgt. Matt Baker through World War II, I think people are going to want to hear his story."

Man, the 1st one isnt even out yet Razz

uhm, I would rather see them waiting with this announce of the second on it's way as the first one isn't even out yet (and the first where also delayed to like January 2005 ? If I remember correctly). I don't know why I why, I don't have much reasons, I don't just like such announcements when they're working on a second game for a serie when the first isn't even out and you can get ahold of it. Maybe it reminds alittle of EA's ultimate-squeez-thesims-out, announcing expansions here and there :> annoying.

Yeah, kinda weird to announce a sequel when the offical isn't out yet.
The original to come game sounds great so I guess the sequel is going to be good as well..that's only a wild guess tough,

i dont think that theyre working on it right now. I think this is a good thing because it shows the developers have a good relationship with the people financing them and that this one must be pretty good if theyre already liking it so much.

pizda yeah well, why now ? +/- 3 months before actual release of the first (if now Jan is the rel. date), it just feels like they are rushing something (It feels that way, I'm not saying it is and now if they were - why would they do it?) the game is probably great anyway. Give the first game some space, the first weeks will only go to be playing it. (STRESS, yes, either it's just me who is fucking tired of working Wink or it really is stress in the atmosphere over this gameserie or producers.. or... something Razz but I know I'm not comfortable with it, I'm looking forward to the game tho)

This is like the tenth crappy WWII console shooter released in the past couple of years.
Why the hell can't the stupid kiddies stop buying them so the developers can focus on quality games instead?

Narog, ive been playing videogames for over 20 years, and when it comes to fps/squad based games, BIA is at the top man - could have been a lot better, but it was still awesome

SWAT 4, Ghost Recon, America's Army. Those are all great squad based games. BIA is not one of them. It's a console shooter where you use teammates as a meat-shield so you can circle-strafe the germans easier.

So true. It's an okay game, nothing more.

But WWII is such a rich topic to create a movie or videogame from. Should filmmakers have ended their quest after say the Longest Day for example, or should they have continued and made films like Saving Private Ryan and the Thin Red Line, and then should they have stopped there instead of creating the awesome televisions series that is Band of Brothers?

All of them are heavily influenced from other films of their ilk, but they all do something good and different and the same goes for games.

They get better and better and I don't want it to stop.

Aim and only 1 form of Tactical engagement destroyed the first game...

I'd agree Swat 4 and GR are great games that are better than BIA, but AA? naw man, I played that for a few years and got to like 93 honor, so I'm not a noob ya know Smile While it can be the best squad based game, to few ppl really play it like that and hardly work with their team...hence the reason I stopped playing

this game was truly a letdown. i still cannot believe the self-hype they were trying to generate by outright lying and touting it was something like the most advanced squad shooter ever. what total bull. and the ai was supposed to be spectacular, using the same flanking techniques? i never once got flanked by an ai opponent, unless the script called for them to magically appear in front and behind me and all come stupidly rushing at me. why do only the worthless new games get sequels these days?

I liked it and as for swat... on single player I found most of the levels could be done as a lone ranger anyway. On BIA it was difficult to get anywhere on your own tbh.

They should just rename it to Flankers 2: Oh the joy of more flanking!

Seriously, the first one was a good game for the first few hours but after that you just realise that you just do the same damn thing over and over - your guys flank while you run in and gun down crappy AIs. Hope the second one actually adds other factors to the game :/ Peace,

fear the led zeppelin that was!

^^ True to you and most others on this thread

I didnt quite like BIA!

Was it the health pies of soldiers ?
Was it the fact they recovered them after several hits ?
Or perhaps at some times it seemed i was playing with a parkinson-affected guy ?
