Ninja Gaiden BLACK
Platform: Xbox
Release Date: 9/20/2005
Ninja Gaiden, the commercial and critically acclaimed cut and slash action game, took the action genre by storm with its unique and innovative game play, killer story and mind-blowing graphics. Now gamers can experience even more of Ryu Hayabusa's deadly artistry in Ninja Gaiden BLACK, the newest installment in the Ninja Gaiden series, slashing its way to the Xbox video game console this September 2005 as it ships to retailers nationwide.
The 2004 release on the Xbox was nothing short of a masterpiece, but has unfortunately received the stigma (or honor depending on your point of view) of being one of the most difficult videogames of all time. So called “hardcore” gamers received the equivalent of a hardcore anal probe thanks to the folks at Team Ninja, resulting in many trade-ins despite the fact that Ninja Gaiden is arguably the best game ever on the Xbox.
Sporting a host of new features, including multiple difficulty levels, new enemies, a mission mode, and the original arcade game, Ninja Gaiden BLACK is a Director’s Cut of sorts that embodies all that makes the series truly one for the hack-and-slash hall of fame.
No matter what difficulty level you are playing at, Ninja Gaiden: BLACK provides 5 different costumes to choose from. The outfit from the original Xbox game is available, as is the classic coin-op version, a Dead or Alive version, the black and red little number from the first Hurricane Pack, and an all-new costume that can only be described as “the best ninja costume ever”.
Seriously, this thing is so badass that I would instantly wear it to the next Stephen K. Hayes Ninja Gala. Ok, so there is no Stephen K. Hayes Ninja Gala, but I bet a few of you Googled it already…suckers.
The Hard level feels essentially Hurricane Pack: Volume I, which provided new enemies that were incredibly deadly, new weapons, and a few changes where items would be available. While things have been altered slightly from the Hurricane Pack: Volume I, it still requires more skill than Sho Kosugi on ninja steroids.
Very Hard is where the game begins to toy with you, but wait until you experience the level of Master Ninja. Don’t worry, it’s usually a quick death so the pain doesn’t last that long. I swear that I heard the enemies laughing at me during my 50 seconds of existence. Come to think of it, that was probably Itagaki-san laughing at me.
Ninja Gaiden Black will hopefully attract new players to genre. Im old school always has always willl be.. I hate games like "fable" because it feels like they were made for 4 year old kids. "Brothers in arms" was a great game but if you died a few times a help screen would pop up asking you "you want more life, etc?".
Todays games are way to easy, maybe the devs thinks the new generation are morons? Because they are overweight and watches tv 24/7?
I salute Team Ninja for releasing Ninja Gaiden, and it's a fair game, if you master the tecniques you will have a fighting chance...

If this is half as good as Ninja Gaiden, then its a must buy.

Thank God... NG was TOO hard for me, and this is one time where I'm not scared to admit it. I'll try this one out later. Right now, I'm having too much fun with Shaolin Monks.

heh listen to this:
"And then we have the Master Ninja difficulty. With all the talk of how hard the Mission Mode is, it's nothing compared to Master Ninja. This is one of the most difficult game settings of all time. Only the hardest of hardcore players need apply. We're talking diamond hard here, folks. Never before have I put so many hours into a game only to turn up the difficulty and die on the first set of beginner enemies. If you can get through this, you deserve the praise of gamers everywhere. Also, you probably need to get outside a little more often. The word is that only one tester at Team Ninja could beat it, thus bringing the total number of people in the world who can beat it to one."

Now Im not sure if I really wanna play ninja black....
I finished original ng on normal... now I want to continue on Hard.. no I don't have my old saves left from ng..if this is true I dunno what to do
Comments on gamefaqboards
Why aren't they including hard mode at the start?
They did in the first one. Why do you all of a sudden have to beat normal in order to get it? I think that sucks. I never beat NG, and I deleted all of my data on it too.
Why else is hard mode unlockable. Itagaki wants you to work for it, thus creating more replay value, and more time spent on the game. Same with the costumes and others.
Personally, I think its a waste of time to have to redo everything and unlock it, it should be open from the start.
Itagaki- "Hey you spent so much time on my game, and gave me a lot of money, so here, beat everything again on Ninja Gaiden Black, and I guess I'll let you unlcok one or two things, but thats it. Then you have to waste your time and do it again on a higher difficulty."

Ninja Gaiden is pretty tough! I havent played it in ages but I had difficulty defeating the bone dragon at the end of chapter 6. I think its because I dont have any potions left and I got pissed at it and never went back lol. I might try restarting that chapter again. I should still have my saves tho.
May the NFOrce be with you always.
