I had the misfortune of purchasing Special Forces (my friend wanted me to to get it) and I havent played it since the week I got it and play normal BF2 many times a week. What a total piece of crap that was. These booster packs will be even worse with lame-ass models, maps and textures that any skilled modder could do far better.
Damn EA raping DICEs lovechild for every buck they can get.

Subander, thats about what I was going to say too...
EA will destroy the good reputation the Battlefield series have...
SF is kinda bad yes, a few maps are fun once in a while but I prefer original BF2. Only good thing that came of SF was the G36E for medics...
Booster Packs is so typical EA. For all I care those "Booster Packs" should be released as patches instead... But noooo EA gives nothing away free... It wouldn't surprise me if they decide to remove the new maps from the next patch and make us pay for them... aaaaarghhh

just give us these "addons" for free.
they just add a little extra for the game which should be free.
If it was like a big cd full with new stuff, then i can imagine that they ask for a price.
But these small add-ons should be downloade for free.
WELL DONE EA :\:\

Can't wait for booster packs and patch 1.2, it will make BF2 less CSish and more realistic (no shooting when jumping and so on), they also promised increased performance.
Yes I must agree with people who hate SF. SF is worst expansion in battlefield series ever. It's extremely unoptimized (there are maps where you get 2 times or even 3 times as low fps as you did in BF2) and for crappy performance game doesnt even look better than BF2, it actually looks worse.

They should be giving out these 'expansions' for free. Don't buy any more expansions/boosterpacks, boycott the moneysuckers at EA!

This is NOT right at all!!!
Is this going to be the new way to upgrade your (nowadays mostly buggy released) game?
A handfull new vehicles, some bugfixes....this is a patch IMO, not a -what a commercial name- Booster pack!

Patches for BF2 are and will be free and there will be more patches for BF2 with maps and vehicles I believe (like wake island 2007), booster pack is not a patch, imagine it as an expansion pack but smaller thus you pay less (only 10 bucks).

This "booster pack" idea is a nice idea - if it wasn't EA and if it would actually offer more than just another map or two and a few vehicles. The BF2 mod scene has already changed some vehicles and changed the uniforms of the player characters to suit different styles. IMO a "booster pack" like EA proposes should be implemented in a patch to give the players back what they pay for, and while they are at it, they should rather invest some more time into their downloads servers and they fu**ed up download app!

The patch is going to be great, paying for booster packs is not.
Look at the content of the Booster Packs... A few maps, a few countries soldiers/vehicles... Is that worth £5.99... naaaah not really IMO.
Other games gets maps, new stuff for free... But not BF2 of course because EA are money whores...

I have BF2 and BF : SF and bought the games in the shop, made a record of the keys and took them back. EA really take the piss but I go one step further. I dunno how i'm going to get around the booster packs though. I reckon they might release both booster pack as one disk in a few months time. BF:SF is crap really and I rarely play it and I would have been gutted if i'd have paid for it. I play BF2 regularly though and they seem to have finally fixed it.

I wouldn't say SF is crap, I quiet enjoy it, wish they tweaked peformance in some maps, then it would be even better. But original BF2 is still the best.

Its a different style of game to the original BF2, so I can understand why some people dont like it. Neither is superior, they're just different. SF is much more closer quaters, introducing new ways to escape and supprise people.. The original was based around getting in a car, driving 3 miles, having a gun fight and doing the same again.. There was scope for large, long distance fights.. with air support.. and such.. SF is more about sneaking around a corner and having a gun fight.. then doing it around the next corner.. etc..

Where the heck is that site that sold BF2-keys now again?
Just got a donation on my paypal-account, and have no real way to use the money.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Why? The Sims 2 booster pack didnt' have a unique CD key. Its being distrubuted without any copy protection at all.

But if we look at whats going to be added in the booster packs according to EA:
a few maps
a few vehicles
some new "army "(european mix)
and compare that to other games were a patch can give you 3-4 maps and other stuff. Map-packs and so on. BF2 has never recieved anything more than a few tweaks and Wake Island 2007. Atleast they could release a map pack IMO.
I understand EA and their choice, but if they are going to charge money atleast BOTH booster packs should be in one package.
I will probably have to buy the booster packs too to get a good online experince. Why? Because those maps can be added to the regular map rotation and most clan servers/more serious servers will have them. So when I play there and it cycles to a booster pack map I will get kicked if I do not have them. Simple as that and I think EA is pretty damn clear about that thus charging money.

mmmm...its a thin line. 1-2 maps may be considered as a free update but something different with new tactics because of new vehicles and stuff, can be a retail addon. Don't know since I only got used at valve's 'one map' updates but if I count them they are more than an addon for CSS.
EA is known for its tactics and surely knows that BF2 fans will buy them. So they sell them. Valve could do it but they aren't...
