a friend of mine bought his psp today and he wants to play some downloaded games, I know there are few umd/iso emu's and stuff like that out there. What's the best one to get? And by what principals do they work (can you load the iso? or even a rarred iso? or do you need to extract the iso?) and what about rip kits? He has a 1gb card but its always nice to have more then 2 or 3 games on it Smile

UMD Emulator 8.0c is just what your friend needs just make a iso folder on the root of your memory stick and place the isos there.

Do a search for "UMD EMULATOR 0.8c" (C!!!!!!!!!!!!!)... read the "readme" and you should be set. Every game released to date has an ISO floating around, most of them are around 400mb, some are 800 and some are 1.6Gb Razz! Most of the ISO's larger than 1Gb have a pre-ripped version floating around too, just keep looking.

The UMD loader (0.8c) can directly load UMD's or emulate them so your PSP shows them as the UMD in the drive, you do however need a UMD to play the ISO's and a 1.5 version PSP. If your friend has a higher version (which he will) he will need to downgrade.. for this goto pspupdates.com and check the FAQ forums!

Or use Dev hook and UMDEmulator .8c. No UMD needed in the drive. pspupdates will have everything you need. Well except the isos Smile

id suggest using fastloader 0.7 at the moment - its simpler to use because its more straight forward - 0.8 can be daunting if its your first loader, so id just stick with 0.7 for now - i still use it, even though i have 0.8 as well...

fastloader still plays most games anyway.

ripkits arent something youll really need with a 1gig stick, you can fit 2-3 games on it easy. ripkits take out cool stuff like movies, that personally, id rather leave in the iso.

you guys know a lot about this, nice Smile

I have a few questions, if that's okay:
I have a v2.0 PSP Sad, so I need to downgrade it, right? Does that mean I lose the WebBrowser and anything else that came with 2.0?
And is it possible to find somewhere the 2.0 patch, for later upgrade (if I need it). I ask this because the latest PSP update is 2.0.1, and the only thing it contains is the fix so that it can't be downgraded... so I would rather avoide that one Smile

yes you lose your browser, but there are browsers that work on 1.5. they arent as good as the 2.0, but we all take what we can get i spose...

yes there are 2.0 upgrades floating around the net, i suggest you get it now before it becomes a rarity - 2.0 will eventually be hacked, and i think when that happens, we'll all be updating to enjoy 2.0 PLUS homebrew.

Thans for the reply!

I've just downgraded my PSP to 1.50, and everything works as it should. (altho, I didn't test any games).

Is it safe for me now to remove the files I added in order to downgrade? overflow.tif, h.bin, index.dat, eboot.bin in the UPDATE folder?
