got a reply from there tech support

Hello,

Sorry for the problems, our SQL server decided to quit authorizing accounts last night. Everything should be working again and we are looking into the cause

working fine now

i used to get my newsgroup free with plusnet but there retention was crappy and they started talking about limiting it so i left them and joined another isp but they had no newsgroups.

looking to change isp again and see that pipex use giganews for there newsgroup accounts so i may go to them. anybody had any experience with pipex?

Nothing is for free, If you mean you get it with your internet provider, you still are paying for it.

I use NewsHosting.com as well. Awesome provider in my opinion. Never had any problems with them. They always keep their customers informed via the front page, and are quick to rectify any issues. Best $15 m/o I spend.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I use my ISP's provided. Like cyber said, you pay for it anyway. Good enough retention (~7 days) and pretty good completion (by itself or thru par2 files). Not paying anything extra for it, so I've got no gripes.

Cablevision's Optimum Online. 10mbps down / something like 1mbps up.

I think it outsources to giganews though. Not 100% on that tho.

Phluxed, I have Rogers cable and they give you speed capped (60kps) outsourced giganews. Good deal for free. I use newshosting the occasional month when I want to download a piss load... but even just using the speed capped service is still over 100 gb a month easy ...

I used to use a specific now popular torrent site before it shut down and then was reborn. Since then I haven't been able to re-register. It eats ass. However, I am not a fan of wasting possible checked bandwidth on uploads. Usenet is the way to go.

Yayo is filthy. Crack is worse. But seriously, Im beginning to think starforce is in a home for the mentally insane or something. Reminds me of this guy I played lineage 2 with, BwarkBloodClaw, from Australia. He was convinced his mother was a werewolf and his father was a vampire, so whenever he'd come on ventrilo, he'd howl.
