 |
----------------------------------
It's go time, soldier. Prepare yourself for 21st century warfare in Battlefield: Modern Combat. The award-winning Battlefield franchise is coming to the Xbox, and the action is going to be fierce. The good news is that you have a team of grunts at your side to help you survive the frenzied close-quarters combat. The bad news is that you have to engage the enemy on their home turf, in the world's most dangerous hot spots. If you're going to come out of the firefight in one piece, you'll have to use all the high-powered tools at your disposal -- assault rifles, shotguns, machineguns, and advanced vehicles including heavy tanks, high-tech fighter jets, powerful attack helicopters, and more. This is no minor skirmish -- this is all-out war.
----------------------------------
FEATURES
----------------------------------
Featuring both single-player and multi-player modes, Battlefield: Modern Combat can be enjoyed by solo players or within an online multiplayer environment that supports up to 24 players.
The first-ever Battlefield console installment will drop players into the heat of battle on the high tech frontlines, entering a new modern era of combat with more firepower and new expansive environments. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can choose from more than 30 vehicles and 70 weapons, and communicate with one another in real time via USB headset. Players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, the Chinese, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition.

so am i right to think then there ia no single player game and its only online???
As for framerate, the 360 version runs smooth, while the PS3 is a jaggy mess that chugs along in slow motion.

Apparently this is nothing like the PC version hence the subtitle modern combat.
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Nope,,, it looks like some nice SP... Hot swap function looks nice.
From IGN review:
"We really like the new singleplayer mode. Though the AI is a bit too ambitious (because it'll run forward to its death at all times), the emphasis on shooting down large waves of enemies within the confines of some taxing mission of high priority is pretty exciting, especially considering how diverse our arsenals are and how varied the enemy's attacks can be."

Well, i've just had a go with this.
Load times are really good, and graphics are like nothing i've seen on the xbox to date. One really amazingly graphical thing is when you move from one player to another during the battle - its a great effect. Generally i'd say this is the most impressive FPS graphics on the xbox since mercineries (its better though!).
Sound - well, not really had alot of experiance with it yet but the squads seem to shout pretty accurate information which is nice. The menu music is pretty meh, but hey, its just the menus.
Gameplay - well, theres no squirmish, so its just Missions or "Challenges". Missions are just scenarios (alot of which is scripted), but they are alot of fun i must say - i was pleasently suprised anyway. Challenges - well, so far, they've been good fun too - fun to challenge your mates with! One good one was 10 rounds - each round more people ran across this city square. You had to take everyone out each round with just one round of ammo. Generally i'd say that the single player does seem to be great fun - in the first mission I got into a tank and shot down a helicopter (which didn't explode in an amazing way Sad ).
Anyway, the real let down is no single player random skirmishes, and no systemlink. Its a real shame but EA are pretty shitty and like to fuck people over i guess.
Final comments - i'm glad I ordered by copy and I can't wait to play it some more tomorrow! When I recieve my copy (tomorrow) i will try out Live and let you guys know.
peace out.
