You'll find a lot more (and usually higher quality) on the MAME scene.

My favorite of all time is Viper Phase 2 - so damn good, but if I remember was not completely emulated (but it was playable, sound glitches I think).

For SNES... hmm.. I think you pretty much nailed the main ones.

Gradius for example.

U.N. Squadron was always one of my favorites on SNES though.

well that's why I said etc. Razz Any 'retro' games. there was 1 that I cant remember to save my life, but it had dragons (as enemies) but they weren't proper dragons just dragon heads. That game was amazing, and I remember the area was pretty enclosed with lots of terrain to crash into Sad

On Megadrive etc, there's always Xenon 2

Cheers, I always keep a complete MAME romset (minus the CHD dumps) on an old PC for the 2-3 months of the year when even those of us that have the luxury of choice between a couple of consoles and pc gaming find that the games releases either dry up or go to pot - better to play an excellent old game than a bad new one.

There great for online play as well. I find alot with PC gaming even if you have a sizeable buddie list its often the case that someone doesn't own the original, some don't even have a copy, some don't have high enough specs etc with MAME I guess that problems solved anyone with an old P3 can play the majority of games and anyone who can use google can get the rom dumps so it eliminates any hassle or exclusion. Some shoot'em-ups I remember with fondness:

SNES Space Megaforce (US name;can't remember the Japanese name)
SNES SWIV (Which does NOT stand for Silk Worm IV Smile
*Both of the above games are vertiical scrollers.*

Commodore Amiga Hybris (Discovery Software didn't just release Marauder Smile
Commodore Amiga Battle Squadron (No, Discovery Soft. is not paying me Smile
*These games are also vertical scrollers.*

Of course there were others for other platforms but these are the ones I've had the most fun with.

Got my first videogame in 1979 and been at it ever since...

There's a kaillera enhanced version out there.

Just google for Kaillera and you'll get the site with a download, quite easy.
