After seeing the E3 videos of this game last year and having now played it, I have to say I cant help but feel slightly disappointed!
I have heard many mixed opinions about Full Auto with many saying the game is awesome and a good many more saying its not. Personally Im in between the two at the moment. The horrendous framerate issues have been cleared up substantially and visually the game does look better if anyone has played the demo that was released a month or two ago but it does seem to be lacking something and I think it could be fun! Although Full Auto is indeed a fun game, I dont think it is anywhere near as much fun as it could be.
The level of destruction I have to say is really impressive with plenty of onscreen action, huge explosions and debris from pretty much everything flying everywhere. I have noticed the odd slow down which which isnt too much of a problem but I think the developers should have left out the Matrix style slow motion when you destroy an opponent. Sounds are good but Im not too keen on the music.
From what I have seen of the weapons, they range from machine guns, shotguns, rocket launchers, grenade launchers and minedroppers. You cannot choose your individual arms but rather set load outs consisting of primary and in some cases secondary weapons. Im hoping more will be available to unlock with a bit more variety. There is also a smoke screen which Im not sure works on the AI in the game but would be good on a human opponent.
There is plenty to unlock including new cars and many many colours and skins too I believe although I have yet to unlock those. To play through and unlock everything the game has apparently 23 hours of play time which I think is fairly decent providing it doesnt get too repetitive, i.e the same tracks over and over and mirrored (RR6?) just to be slightly different!
I have not yet played the game on Xbox Live but judging by previous Live games Im expecting a rediculous amount of lag! The game also has a splitscreen two player multiplayer mode which I havent seen yet but I intend giving that a go tonight when I take the game to a friends house.
Having spent £49.99 on this yesterday, I played it for a good 5 hours and I intend to play it a lot more but I dont think it is worth my hard earned cash. This game should have been £29.99 at the most in my opinion and if I was to rate it, I would give it an honest 6/10 which I have to say is fairly poor for a title amongst my games library!
User Rating 6/10
The next game I acquire will be Fight Night: Round 3 and I have a friend who will be bringing me a copy back with them from America which will be a week or two before the UK release and it will be cheaper! Of course I need to find out whether the NTSC version will work on a PAL Xbox 360 first!
May the NFOrce be with you always.
