about game

Set to revolutionise multi-terrain racing with the largest environment ever created in race gaming, FUEL will present players with an astonishing no-boundaries playfield that's over 5,000 square miles (14,000+ km²) in size. Creating the ultimate competitive go-anywhere racing experience, FUEL will have players competing across wildly different terrain and executing spectacular death-defying stunts as they race dozens of varied two and four-wheeled rides and explore this epic world on an unprecedented scale.

FUEL is set in an alternate present in which whole swathes of the globe have been ravaged by the effects of climate change brought on by decades of environmental abuse. Here oil prices have rocketed and yet a new breed of racing junkie takes to the wastelands, pitting their grungy home-tuned vehicles against each other in an all-new extreme sport as they compete to win fuel supplies. To triumph means travelling the wastelands to challenge the best; from the tsunami-wrecked pacific coast through the Nevada wastelands, including the Grand Canyon, up treacherous snow-capped mountains, thick forests, arid deserts, abandoned lakeside resorts and much more.

Bringing this vast, open ended landscape to life is a dynamic weather system with full day and night transitions, brilliant sunshine, torrential rain and everything in between, plus destructive tornados, sandstorms, thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and blizzards requiring mid-race strategy changes. Complete with the ability to go online to explore this massive world and compete in hundreds of multiplayer challenges, FUEL is coming in 2009 for the PLAYSTATION®3 system, Xbox 360 and Games For Windows.

Proper template soon.

Sounds interesting. Test Drive Unlimited the alternative way.

But my fucking god, how much disk space will it require?

Does it matter? Having large amount hdds nowadays and the fact you could 'raid' couple of 1tb hdds for instance space is not something worth troubling.
If the game requires 30gb, so be it.

If the game requires 30gb, so be it.

The problem is, when you DL the games, 30GB split 100MB RARs take forever to extract, then again forever to install.

I don't mind waiting. I pirate a game, i don't complain about dl speed, extraction speed, installation speed and so on. Won't kill me if i wait a bit longer before i play.

What makes you think it will be 30GB?
The size will be your standard ~7GB.
If you want to stretch it a bit, maximum 10GB.

The game sounds neat.

Some new info about the game:

Quote:

Coming this May, FUEL’s immense landscape will deliver the world’s largest racing environment, featuring more than 100,000 miles (161,000+km) of tarmac, tracks and trails. The video begins by exploring the stunning scale and diversity of FUEL’s landscapes before bikes, quads, roadsters and more go head-to-head in a series of breakneck races.

From the snow-capped mountains of Mount Rainier to the salt-plains of Utah and the Grand Canyon, FUEL’s unique environment, mapped using satellite data, is set to create the ultimate racing sandbox. Players will be able to take any route they choose at any time, on and off-road, across a game world that demands to be raced and explored.

Set in an alternate present, where the accelerated effects of global warming have wreaked destruction across huge swathes of America, a new breed of thrill-seeking racers have taken these dangerous, abandoned areas for their own and now explore and compete against each other, and the elements, in multi-vehicle events. A full day/night cycle and dynamic weather system that includes tornados, lightning strikes, blizzards, thunderstorms and sandstorms, will deliver a unique racing experience as players battle the elements in real-time.

Complete with free roam and a multitude of online multiplayer challenges, FUEL is set to revolutionise open world multi-terrain racing when it launches this May for the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games For Windows LIVE.

Yes. Sure QW has smaller maps and more objects/action going on but the atmosphere, sky, water and even trees made me think of QW for some reason...

i repeat again it doesn't look great, rather crappy and no i don't have high standards, look at TDU 2k km of road and it loox pretty, this just doesn't cut it, otherwise why ppl buy expensive hw? to play outdated looking games? don't think so
i do hope they will make it look better, shadows are just from Mafia, but mafia was great in 2k2, it's 2k9, in 7 years i'm pretty sure they could've worked something out about them damn shadows
